With a history of accusations of misogynistic behavior from both the left, MSNBC “Hardball” is not showing any indications that he’s willing to tread carefully, especially when it comes to discussing conservative women.

On his Tuesday MSNBC “Hardball” program, Matthews took another swipe at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. In a discussion about the prospects of Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann’s shot at the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, Matthews was warned by one of his guests not to count out Palin, to which he immediately downplayed her viability.

“I think Sarah Palin proved herself to be — I think she’s proven herself to be profoundly stupid,” Matthews said to applause on-location in Los Angeles. “Her inability to answers the questions of Katie Couric, her inability of even now to explain if she ever reads anything.”

“Her absolute failure to begin studying and get serious about running for president,” he continued. “She has shown no effort to doing any homework or understanding issues about the economy or science or the world. No effort and she’s running for president? I don’t believe she would be at all helpful to our republic.”

Matthews judgment: Palin’s participation in the 2012 race would be bad for America.

Peccy, unfortunately, it's not obvious to everyone. There are actually some people out there who still think she would be a good candidate for President.

LOL....all people would have to do is watch her on TV for five minutes. I'd vote for whomever I thought was good for this country, be it repub or dem. But Palin is in no way good for us in my opinion.

Somehow, these people who love Palin see her on tv and try to argue that she is great. I don't get it. Maybe one of them can explain it here?

It's because of the MILF status she has among most men. Men will do stupid things when trying to defend females. That's a big reason females aren't in combat. But it's not men's fault, we're wired that way is all

thats kind of what I was thinking, it was still unnecessarily mean to put it that way though (and on public television, ouch)

he could have just explained the details(that she couldnt speak on her own , in the interviews, and doesnt know about economy ,,etc,,)

The irony being that men didn't want to give women the vote because they felt women would vote for the better looking man to go in office rather then the issues.

But its okay for men to vote with their peckers...!

I wouldn't call her stupid. She has a degree, she was Governor of Alaska. She's making a whole lot more money than probably all of us on this site, and I'm sure more than Chris Mathews.

I wouldn't support her for president, there are better potential candidates than her.

I give her a lot of the credit for helping Obama win the last election. Her running mate had a heart condition. She was second in line and only a heart attack away from being president if the republicans had won against Obama.

Between the two choices, well, I didn't have much choice. I voted for Obama.

I think she is a nice person, but would have been a terrible president.
Or vice president.

Andy Borowitz refers to her as "the thinking man's Michelle Bachman".

Bachman Hs a not-so-bad- shot at becoming the GOP candidate by default, if all the other prospective candidates keep crashing and burning.

Remember this?
