Actually I take it back I will say this one more thing. What if everyone who WAS responsible had guns, and could put a stop to the loony before he ever did so much damage? Suddenly the game changes no?

Do you not see how this can be a good thing? If you make all guns illegal, then you set yourself up to be defenseless against those who abuse them already. You're asking for it then.

But it never happens that way. All the responsible gun owners are never on target when the loonies come around. It just never plays out that way.

I am not completely anti gun, I just see too much irresponsibility and damn lunatics with them. Innocents die too often at the hand of guns, legal guns at that.

I understand that, but to punish the responsible is not the answer. That isn't gonna stop anything you do realize that. Legal or illegal, if someone is dead set on doing something, they will do it. Same goes for accidents, you can never fully prevent them.

All the red tape hurts the good people more than it does the bad.

No we need lots more red tape. Testing needs to be done to save lives. Mental health testing needs to be extensive and needs to be done every so many years for the sake of these innocents that die each year.

And that right there is why our freedom is going down the tubes, because they have conditioned people like you to believe that more and more involvement is a good thing.

You do realize how subjective the testing can be right?

All they have to do is do a little more extensive version of the testing police undergo for their jobs. It really isn't hard.

Here's the thing though, if you give the state an inch, they will take a mile. This has been proven again and again over time. It NEVER stops with just one thing. That one thing leads to something else, and then something else after that. Pretty soon, we have little in the way of freedom, rights or privacy at all. Look at what has gone on in the way of airport security, if you want an example of that.

So while in theory, it seems simple enough to you, there is much more than meets the eye.

What good is freedom to those who lost their lives in Columbine High School, at the post office or other places of work, Mcdonalds and other restaurants, colleges, military bases, in their car, in their yard, in their beds and all other places that a loonie with a gun took their life? Freedom is no good to them.

Something needs to be done about that. Legal guns should never kill innocent people.

You're missing the point. Banning and limiting NEVER stops anything! All it does is make things a pain in the butt for those responsible. All the safety precautions in the world will not prevent every accident, nor will it stop every nut who wants to do something bad.

To say that it will is just stupid, and has no basis in reality.

true, but safety precautions can work wonders in decreasing the NUMBER of accidents,,,and the number of nuts who didnt MEAN to do something bad and still did

The thing is, where do you draw the line? Eventually the answer is gonna be just ban everything. What type of freedom is that, if everything is restricted to where you can hardly experience anything, good or bad?

I disagree. People can and have been drawing lines forever. I do it in my home. Its been done at my jobs. There have to be some boundaries and limits set in any community or society and I disagree that some boundaries imminently ends in no freedoms.

of course banning and limiting never stops anything. and obviously safety precautions wil not prevent every accident and yes, there'll definately be plenty of nuts who'll do what bad they choose to do and the law be damned. nobody is saying otherwise. but would you have no laws whatsoever? for instance, would you want to see laws taken off the books that require an age minumum to obtain a drivers license, prohibit driving while intoxicated, speed restrictions, riquire working brakes on cars and many other things because some kid is always going to take a joyride in dad's car or some folks will drink and drive without having accidents, we all speed sooner or later anyway and hell, who hasn't driven on faulty brakes until payday? what is government's function if not to administer what's in society's best interest?

ah, good question and no we cannot ban everything can we? where the line is drawn depends on society. in this american society we are lucky enough to live in the line is drawn with the constitution. i like these easy questions. trouble is, few americans have actually read the damn thing.

Nor do they realize that it's been trampled on little by little with time. Hence why we are in the mess we are in, being slowly destroyed in part by our own ignorance.

I reckon Green Day said it all in their 'American Idiot' track. It made me think long and hard about what was REALLY going down. I know i can't change anyone's perception, i know that people are being hypnotized more and more, by the hour.

we dont need guns to just protect ourselves from criminals or hunting food,we need guns to protect ourselves from the "law abiding citizens" who snap

the clever thing about that song is it actually applies to people being lead by media, a requirement of just about any song that does well(that people fall in line with what it says)...lol

how many people walked around with those sentiments after the song was released?

a bit of delicious irony to it,,,

i'm not basing my opinion on a song. It's also from what i've read.

similar to the 'american idiots' the song suggests are merely media lead, as opposed to those who just happen to AGREE With each other,,,

Except Tedster is not putting the accidental deaths from guns into the conversation or the lunies who have guns who kill innocent people.

Hunting for food to eat for the family is okay but hunters get kinda crazy with it.

A good start would be to rent the viedo "Food, Inc.". It airs on the History Station from time to time. Then you can really see who gets crazy with our food source. The documentary will literally make you sick to your stomach.

If some nut job who got a legal gun by the slight restrictions we have now ends your life you can't experience anything good or bad anyway so whats your point?
