What if everyone who WAS responsible had guns, and could put a stop to the loony before he ever did so much damage? Suddenly the game changes no? sure, what if? who'd decide who was responsible? |

Except Tedster is not putting the accidental deaths from guns into the conversation or the lunies who have guns who kill innocent people. Yes but by this logic, you could ban or limit ANYTHING, since accidents can always happen with things, and you will always get the crazy or irresponsible types. It's not fair to punish the innocent for the mistakes of others. It's that type of mindset being drilled into us, that is the very reason our freedoms and rights are dwindling. We need to go back to personal responsibility. You and you alone are responsible for yourself, no one else is. You make a mistake, you go nuts, that's on you. Pretty basic concept seems to me. by this logic we DO ban and limit many things for no other reason that the risk of accidents is more than acceptable in society. we ban cars that do not meet motor vehicle codes, the faa bans aircraft that are not certificated, the fda bans drugs that it finds to be a certain level of risk, etc. the fact is, we have laws because we cannot rely on the personal responsibility you speak of. we can't even all agree on what personal responsibility means. your "pretty basic concept" is just that, a pretty basic concept, not a practical solution to social issues. oh, and our rights aren't dwindling in the least. The only reason it's acceptable is because we have been brainwashed into thinking it is. You can have more government intruding into your life if you want, I don't. It's always acceptable, until it effects YOU. You would be wise to remember this. |

Actually I take it back I will say this one more thing. What if everyone who WAS responsible had guns, and could put a stop to the loony before he ever did so much damage? Suddenly the game changes no? Do you not see how this can be a good thing? If you make all guns illegal, then you set yourself up to be defenseless against those who abuse them already. You're asking for it then. But it never happens that way. All the responsible gun owners are never on target when the loonies come around. It just never plays out that way. I am not completely anti gun, I just see too much irresponsibility and damn lunatics with them. Innocents die too often at the hand of guns, legal guns at that. I understand that, but to punish the responsible is not the answer. That isn't gonna stop anything you do realize that. Legal or illegal, if someone is dead set on doing something, they will do it. Same goes for accidents, you can never fully prevent them. All the red tape hurts the good people more than it does the bad. No we need lots more red tape. Testing needs to be done to save lives. Mental health testing needs to be extensive and needs to be done every so many years for the sake of these innocents that die each year. And that right there is why our freedom is going down the tubes, because they have conditioned people like you to believe that more and more involvement is a good thing. You do realize how subjective the testing can be right? All they have to do is do a little more extensive version of the testing police undergo for their jobs. It really isn't hard. |

lol, you know I find alot of what Farrakhan says to make sense, but I wouldnt want him as president because his speech is blatant enough to be divisive as is Nugents and we dont need to divide americans anymore than they are,,at least, our president shouldnt be in the business of doing so |

Here's the thing though, if you give the state an inch, they will take a mile. This has been proven again and again over time. It NEVER stops with just one thing. That one thing leads to something else, and then something else after that. Pretty soon, we have little in the way of freedom, rights or privacy at all. Look at what has gone on in the way of airport security, if you want an example of that. So while in theory, it seems simple enough to you, there is much more than meets the eye. |

There's not much that can be done about that right now. Given that, I'd much rather have someone running the show who has the balls to tell you the truth no matter how uncomfortable it is, than lie to your face. I've had about enough of that. |
