I dont receive ss, but a friend of mine has a son who is schizophrenic, and one who husband deceased and gets her child support from ss.....how will they pay they bills? What is the time length for this sht down. i heard on the news it wont last more than 48 hours but i was reading about when it had last happened and it turned out to be quite lengthy actually. I don't see the Republicans caving in.... |

The democrats had control of the house and senate. This is a myth for the ignorant masses. The democrats have never had control of the Senate in recent memory. They need 60 votes to get anything passed. There are too many recalcitrant Republicans to allow that to happen.

The budget is initiated in the house. Nothing has came out of the house to even be voted on for 2011. |

Ok, i just read it, it has all the same info..I just dont buy the fact this will be a "weekender" shut down. I think once it is shut down the sides will push harder and become more aggressive. What they often say to keep us "calm" is rarely what they promise...so that is my concern. I really dont think republicans will back down at all....they can be hard headed. |

I just saw a news update, they are still in negotiations and only 8 hours left. It seems like the republicans are offering a solution but the democrats don't have a solution but they are not on board with the republicans. What was the democrats idea to solve this problem, other than to criticize the the ideas that were brought to the table?
