Topic: Who wrote the New Testament? | |

Verily verily I say unto you, To be perfect is to be complete. How can we not be complete if we are complete in love? How can we not be complete if our heart is full of love? (some of my inner scripture...) That's beautiful Jeannie. You should start writing these down and giving them index numbers, then you can post your own inner spirit scriptures complete with numbers. People seem to be impressed by things that are number. I think it's everyone's secret love of mathematics coming out. It's already wrote down. Yes, and they have already been officially number by the time and date stamps. Jeaniebean 05:19 Verily verily I say unto you, To be perfect is to be complete. How can we not be complete if we are complete in love? How can we not be complete if our heart is full of love? Jeaniebean 05:24 God has no name. Boy this is getting good. I think I'm going to write a book of poetry like the Psalms and number all the verses. That could be lots of fun. |

Yes we are to be perfect on our own. Sins don't just go away. You do a sin today, that sin continues with you into tomorrow. That is where the sacrifice Jesus made for us all comes into play. Jesus' blood purifies you of yesterdays sin(s) and henceforth you are to remain like a lamb without blemish. Sin are forgiven, not washed away by blood. That's just ancient superstition that goes clear back to the days of Greek mythology and probably even earlier. Sins being washed away by the blood is metaphorically speaking. Accepting Jesus then asking for forgiveness is where you truly receive forgiveness. And with being forgiveness one must repent from such sins. So again, we have to accept Jesus as lord and savior so he can forgive us of our sins and with forgiving us for our sins we then have to repent from such actions. Too many metaphors and symbols, not enough truth. We are grownups now. We can handle the truth. When you are truly sorry for your actions, so much so that you are a changed person, and when you repent and change and forgive yourself, then you are forgiven. No blood needed. No metaphors needed. No symbols needed. Just change your ways and let love into your life and heart. |

If you steal something, if YOU forgive yourself for it, it's ok? nice. How are metaphors, symbols, parables, ect, not the truth just because they are as such? Metaphors, parables, ect are just a way of explaining the TRUTH. |

Speaking of numbered verses, can you post the numbered verses where Jesus is being directly quoted stating that we must accept HIM as our LORD and SAVIOR, and that we must ask HIM personally to forgive us of our sins? |

No. I never said anything anywhere remotely close to anything like that. Those are entirely YOUR IDEAS. How are metaphors, symbols, parables, ect, not the truth just because they are as such? Metaphors, parables, ect are just a way of explaining the TRUTH. The metaphor of having Jesus 'blood' wash away your sins would mean that his crucifixion was somehow required to accomplish that. Well that makes no sense. All that is required to accomplish forgiveness is sincere remorse. Just as Jeanniebean had already prophesied: Jeanniebean 05:45 When you are truly sorry for your actions, so much so that you are a changed person, and when you repent and change and forgive yourself, then you are forgiven. |

You will always have to pay for your crimes according to the law of the land you live in and even in addition to God's law. God's law is the natural law of consequences. A killer who kills over and over and is not sorry or does not repent in his heart is never forgiven even if he pretends to ask God for forgiveness. It is only when he truly repents and sees the full weight of his actions and when he changes as a person and becomes enlightened that he can be forgiven by the God within him and be at peace with himself and God. It is only when you have learned from your mistakes and have become a changed human being that you are forgiven. When you change, that is when you forgive yourself. That is when your are a new person. |

Jeanniebean 06:02 It is only when he truly repents and sees the full weight of his actions and when he changes as a person and becomes enlightened that he can be forgiven by the God within him and be at peace. Jeanniebean 06:03 It is only when you have learned from your mistakes and have become a changed human being that you are forgiven. When you change, that is when you forgive yourself. See. Number the verses and you can't tell any difference between Jeanniebean's wisdom and the biblical wisdom. Everything she says is at least as wise as what you can find in the bible, and probably even wiser in many instances. |

Her insights and beliefs are actually right in line with the teachings of "Christ"... (well, I guess I kinda did) :-Þ "Repentance" is the prime example of her views. Repentance isn't asking for forgiveness, it's a change of "heart", a way of thinking... |

Repentance isn't asking for forgiveness, it's a change of "heart", a way of thinking... Actually you are not the first person to tell me that. I'm not offended. I certainly agree with that. If to be a "Christian" simply means to be in line with the teachings of Jesus then a lot of people who do not support the idea that Jesus was "The Christ" would indeed be "Christians", including myself. I totally support the moral and behavioral standards that have been attributed to Jesus. In fact, I've been suggesting that these are precisely the very same teachings that have been taught by other spiritual traditions such as Buddhism all along. However a person does not need to support the idea that Jesus was "The Christ" (which we can be certain Jeannie does not support if she believes the whole story of Jesus to be entirely fictional), nor would a person need to support the orthodox claims and conclusions that Christianity upholds concerning who and what Jesus was. But yes, if a person allows that "Christian" simply means to agree with the moral and behavioral ideals that had been attributed to Jesus, then all Buddhists are "Christians", as are many "Wiccans" as well. In fact, many atheists could even potentially be "Christians" by that abstract view of what it means to be a "Christian". A person wouldn't even need to believe in a "god" at all in order to be in line with the moral and ethical behaviors taught by Jesus. I personally prefer not to be associated with the term "Christian" simply because that seems to imply that I have accepted the rumors that Jesus was "The Christ" (i.e the orthodox view that Jesus was the only begotten son, born of a virgin, and sent by the God of Abraham to be the sacrificial lamb of God to pay for the sins of men), and that I condone the idea that the entire Old Testament correctly portrays the character and commandments of "God". I personally don't care to support that view. |

You are right Abra. I would never call myself a Christian even if I believed in all the teachings attributed to Jesus by Christianity. It might imply that I agreed with too many other things contained in the Christian doctrines that I don't abide. I would not want to misrepresent myself to anyone, nor do I want to be one of the designer Christians.
I want no part of the Catholic Church or any of the protestant churches who have written their own doctrines and claim to be right or the only way to God. One need not know scripture or the Bible to live a good and moral life when one practices love and is aware of the laws. The stories and the doctrine are not God but so many people worship the Bible and hold it sacred, it is almost like an idol. That includes people who worship the symbol of the cross. Symbols and objects are useful and are used in witchcraft a lot, so I am not saying they are meaningless or that people should not use them. I just don't like those symbols forced upon me. |

I love when people claim that Jellybean is this person who is serious about her faith and is questioning, and then she writes:
"You can be my #1 disciple if you want." |
|
|
|
Freakyshiki, do you know what a sense of humor is?
|
|
|
|
Jellybean asks Shiki if he knows what a sense of humor is. Of course he does. However, I do not believe you are questioning your faith. Your mind is made up. You would make a great Christian if you only had faith. You have none. Your words illustrate your lack of faith.
Also, when people start mocking Christ, I look to get out of the way. Nothing good comes from mocking Jesus. Nothing. |

freakyshiki I do not question my faith. What ever gave you that impression?
Edit: It is not possible to mock a fictional character. I mock the doctrines of men and the way those men use them to further their own careers. |
