Calling the mission Operation Odyssey Dawn, American military forces launched their first missiles against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Saturday. American and allied Western forces unleashed a brutal military campaign against Libya's ruling regime on Saturday, firing at least 110 Tomahawk missiles, according to a Pentagon spokesman. Their missiles were aimed at Libya's defense infrastructure and communications systems, and the operation is intended "to deny the Libyan regime from using force against its own people," the Pentagon said. The five-nation coalition launching the strikes includes the United States, France, Britain, Italy, and Canada, according to Reuters. Speaking from Brazil, President Obama confirmed the intervention and said that the U.S. is working with a "broad coalition" in its fight against Libya's leader. "We will not deploy any U.S. troops on the ground," the president emphasized, calling the strikes "limited military" intervention. Let's not forget he said there would be no troops on the ground. Taking bets and I say there will be within the next 6 months. |

Liberal Democrats in uproar over Libya action
By JOHN BRESNAHAN & JONATHAN ALLEN | 3/19/11 4:27 PM EDT A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday. Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part. US Harriers are directly aiding rebel ground forces by taking out armor.
It would appear they have already taken out much of it. And they are so far ahead of the rebel forces, the rebels are having a hard time keeping up. |

why the little dancing banana? Is this a joyous occasion? Nope... War is a cause for somber reflection of stupidity... Not to mention incredibly expensive. Now I suppose there will be more calls to TAX the piss out of us. I can just see it. 'we had to help those poor people... so now we must ask you all to pitch in and give us an arm or a leg'... Tax the rich at 90%... but of course that won't be enough so they will have to tax the 'middle class' at 80%... |

Poppycock... Balderdash... More propaganda. This is all on President Obama. His the seat... His the choice. His the blame. I think that's what he meant. Hussein is BushIII It should be enlightening how much a Presidential canditate changes 'policies' once he becomes President... Kinda makes me wonder what they learn once they are actually in the 'hot seat'. President Obama is not now nor will ever be Bush. (either of them). Bush would have drawn a line in the sand between Mr. Quadify and the 'rebels' within hours of learning that Quadify was 'advancing'. (and probally put a few Tomohawks right on Quadify's brown round). |

Wasn't it the Bush administration that said that if there was a seed of hope for democracy in that region as Iraq would be that it would spread throughout the Arab world? I don't think Obama had a clue.
It all has been news to him. |
