FL GOP Rep. Says 11-Year-Old Was Gang Raped ‘Because She Was Dressed Like A 21 Year-Old Prostitute’

During a debate over a bill that would require state school districts to adopt a dress code that prohibits students from “wearing clothing that exposes underwear or body parts in an indecent or vulgar manner. GOP Florida lawmaker Kathleen Passidomo used the example of an 11 year old girl being raped as reason for supporting the bill. Then she implied it was the girl’s parent’s fault that she had been raped, because of how her parents let her dress. Here’s what she said;

There was an article about an 11 year old girl who was gangraped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed up like a 21-year-old prostitute. And her parents let her attend school like that. And I think it’s incumbent upon us to create some areas where students can be safe in school and show up in proper attire so what happened in Texas doesn’t happen to our students.



And she is a woman? That just shows how brain numbing the rhetoric is of that party.

I DON'T CARE IF THE GIRL WAS NUDE, SHE WAS ELEVEN YEARS OLD. The Republican party loves to blame the victims in all situations it seems

Now without the victim blaming, I think having kids dress appropriately in school is a good thing. Even if it is uniforms.

That woman just missed the whole point of the outrage. SHE WAS 11! I don't care how she was dressed at the time, SHE WAS 11 AND THE OTHERS KNEW BETTER!

I swear the GOP gets dumber every year.

I just don't understand. Can they not put themselves in others shoes at all?

I think a good question is whether she looked 11. Just saying. An example would be when I was in high school working at a store and my friends mom and sister were there. My co-worker was checking out my friends sister and asked me who they were because her and her mom were talking to me. I asked him how old he thought she was and he said 18. I laughed and said try 12 and gave him hell over it for the next year. "Check out any hot 12 year olds?" I would ask.

Anyway people used to get married that young and if I am not mistaken in some parts of the world they still do.

Okay so what you are saying is if she looked old enough then gang rap is okay?

We should always look for ways to make it the victims fault?

Wow you like putting words in peoples mouths don't you. I am not saying rape is ok. I am saying that you can't take the attitude that OMG she was 11 how could you do that to an 11 year old, if she didn't look like she was 11.

So you are saying the gang rape is somehow less bad if she looked older.

She could have looked 18 and so what?
Gang rape is better if the victim is older?

Gang rape is never okay. Letting your child dress like a prostitute is never okay. Send the rapists to jail and start handing out suspensions to kids wearing inappropriate clothes.

You get worse everytime you type. I dont care if she was a stripper and 21. You still can't force yourself on someone.

And no you are not mirroring me you are trying to put words in my mouth. I am saying that you can't take the attitude of the line above is she was trying to present herself as older.

For example, if a guy is in a bar and picks up a girl and then takes her home and after the fact he finds out she was 16 or 15 or w/e did he can you take the attitude omg you slept with a 15/16 year old? Who either had a fake ID or got into the club because she was friends with the bouncer etc.

I don't know the criminals in this case. Maybe they are fine with raping but maybe they wouldn't rape an 11 year old if they thought she was that young. I can't say. I was only saying it is a good question to ask and if the age came up as an issue at trial I am sure his lawyer brought it up.

This is the point I am trying to make. Be outraged on the act not the age.

This blaming the victim for how they dress or where they were or what they do or how they act is what has allowed many many rapists get away with what they do.

In rape, the victim can be naked and it is still rape and a crime of horrendous proportions no matter what.

You have some to learn on this one.

If the guy wasn't picking up girls in a bar he wouldn't have that problem huh?

Guys who get caught up that way are being irresponsible.

Wow you dont understand anything do you? Or is it that you are not reading what I am asking at all? Let me try to be as forward and clear as possible. I don't think its her fault. I am not saying rape is ok. Rape is never ok. I am curious about the rapists motives. Did they know they were raping an 11 year old or did they think she was older? The age of the victim may matter in sentencing and their perception of her may matter as well. In that sense then asking if she looked that old would be relevant.

Really? So in a bar where there is a legal age limit that is supposed to be enforced it is a guys responsibility to card any girl he might sleep with? I think not. Someone there is paid to keep minors out. The bar has a legal responsibility to keep them out. Patrons are in no way responsible.

I really thought you were with the party of personal responsibility and not depending on others to do it for you???

She was eleven and gang raped.

There is no considering nothing but the fact that rape is rape is rape is rape IS RAPE...
