I'll read a long post if the subject matter is interesting to me....
rarely on here is the subject matter interesting enough for me to read a long post...

you need to evolve to the point where u have the patience to read them

One of the purposes of having forums on a dating site is so that people can get to learn something about each other.

In a written medium, such as this, what a person writes is often the only way you can get any insight into that person.

It's true that there aren't many who have literary skills AND something to say. But when you find one of those, even a very long post can be well worth reading....

So far I haven't read any long posts, or long profiles, that are worth reading.

I think the internet is kinda' responsible for a form of mass ADD. I usually post short posts. In the past I had running threads that continues a story, or whatever.....broken up into short post in order to keep peoples attention....cuz' I noticed early on that nobody seems to read long posts,....including myself sometimes.

Is this one too long?laugh

Now....before the internet,....and I'm only using this as an example, Brett Easton Ellis wrote the book "Less Than Zero" which critics dubbed the book for the MTV generation. It was written in very short sentences which one critic described as a "cinematic haiku", and chapters that only took a page or two. It sold millions.....and he became extremely successful. I'm sure a lot of it's success had to do with it's brevity.....

lately i have seen posts on here get longer and longer.

does anyone read long posts all the way through? i tend to skim them till my eyes glaze over.

i think if you want someone to read your post, keep it short and to the point.

it depends upon if its long because of quoting or if its long because of ONE person posting a book of opinion and information

it also depends upon how well the grammar is and what the spacing is like.

see, I tend to need breaks in between to help me SEE more clearly as opposed to words all run together one after another for half a page,,,lol

but basically, no, I dont read those ultra long posts, I basically just skim maybe a sentence or two of each paragraph

offtopic My posts appear in the thread more cramped then when I am typing them, is there a way to adjust this? Thanks!

Like others have said I read a long post if the topic is of interest to me and/or I know the person posting. Often I either skim them or skip them.

Also if a very long post has pages and pages of responses that says to me that the length was necessary and it got peoples attention, sometimes anyway...

Nope keep it short and simple. After about 5 sentences I start to nod off.

I could not agree more. We tend to want to say everything at once, when we should be listening more.
