Along with Afro-Americans, young people were the group responsible for Democratic victories in 2008. It was because they stayed home that we had the disaster of 2010 with all these republican/tea-party victories. Of course, the right-wing would like to prevent them from voting.

Age....interesting, perhaps we should be getting those that presently have the rights, duty, to get off their donkeys and vote, before changing anything.

18 or 21?

I think the law should be left alone.

The Tea/Publicans want to change it.
Why?

They do?!surprised

I was living on my own and going to college when I was 18.

Me too, college, apartment, work...pay rent. . and this was the same time California passed the first leaglized marijuana law which although was voted as a pass. . . was quickly shut down. . so all those votes were in vein anyways....

Dead voters make up 5% of the democrats voting contingent..

Unfortunately, they are the intellectuals of the lot..

Age has nothing to do with IQ

You missed my point entirely. IQ typically doesn't change with age. If you have an IQ of 110 at 10 years old you will have about the same at 40. It's just a ratio of your mental age and actual age and represents how fast you learn not how smart you are.

I guess I missed your point, too. I was wondering how this related to voting age.

I don't care about the age. There should, however, be a test in basic American history, civics, as well as economics to pass before one is allowed to vote. This standard would eliminate most people from both major parties and quite a few from the smaller ones. laugh

So, you liked those literacy tests that prevented black people from being allowed to vote? Interesting.

Wow artio are you a racist? The guy you quoted said nothing about black people at all. Yet you jumped right to it. You also seem to think black people are literate. I know quite a few very intelligent black people and have work with or went to school with several. You should learn not to judge people based on race. It only makes you look bad.

So, are you contending that literacy tests didn't] prevent black people from being allowed to vote?

I am saying that he mentioned nothing of literacy tests. And I am saying literacy has nothing to do with race.

Oh I almost forgot. I was also saying you are being racist.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) defines literacy as the "ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, compute and use printed and written materials associated with varying contexts.
