sometimes it is okay for you to make the first contact. They might not know to initiate a conversation cause they haven't read Dating for Dummies yet.

Is it possible that people have been using mutual match for a long time without knowing what it's for?

It doesn't mean you showed interest in them first, I haven't clicked on anyone since TheCaptain (I purposely went looking for his profile laugh ) but I still can go through them if I wanted too. I just have mine set for guys aged 700 to 700 I think.laugh

I think everyone's profile gets put into the MM circulation and if you pay for the upgrade you will get a message from admin. that someone has clicked on you and be provided with their name. (not sure though)

If they clicked you, it was no accident. flowerforyou Mutual Match never seemed to work right for me. Though, occassionally I do find some people of interest, message them, and get replies back. I guess that's what it's supposed to. LOL

I think it highly likely that Mutual Matches
come about because someone is sitting there
at the keyboard one day and starts clicking
on anything that appeals to them.

By the time they pop up as Mutual Matches I
think they have forgotten on whom they clicked.

When I used to..accrue them, if they made no
contact after a month I deleted them. My feeling
being, if they could not work up an email in a
month, the priority was too low.

ooh,

I never delete them,, they become my 'what might have happened' list of photos to periodically peruse through,,,lol

seriously, some day I may feel an interest in temporarily changing my status quo to contact them first,,,,,

some day,,, maybe,,,,,lol

I thought we had to both click on the YES for it to be a mutual match?

Both parties can check them out but you have to be using the upgrade to find out the screen name of the person who clicked "yes" on you. That is where the "Mutual" part comes into it.

I think thats grandfathered in with my membership which came before the upgrade options,,,

No, I don't think it was grandfathered, because I am here longer than you and I used to be able to see who clicked "yes" on my profile but since the upgrade has been added, I can no longer see who clicks yes.

There are 2 ways a member can appear on your mutual match.

1. the site will show members according to your search perimeters
2. if a member sees your profile, they can click on "Match with him/her"

Then you will see these members on your list to click yes/no/maybe

if you both click maybe or yes then that will show as a mutual match.

The only ones that can see who says yes to them are the upgraded members.

Q. What is Mutual Match?
A. Mutual Match is a simple and fun way to meet people that are interested in meeting you! Here's how it works:

We'll show you profiles, one at a time, of people who match your search preferences.
For each profile, you select "Yes", "No", or "Maybe" when asked if you're interested in meeting him or her.
If you select "Yes" or "Maybe", we'll secretly show them your profile the next time they sign in.
If they indicate that they want to meet you too, you have a Mutual Match! We will email both of you alerting you to your new match
You can then email your new Mutual Match already knowing that you're both interested in meeting each other.
With Mutual Match, you can review profiles quickly and easily, and only send messages to people you have a mutual connection with. How simple is that?

Q. What happens to the profiles to whom I say "Yes" or "Maybe"? Will they know I'm interested in them?
A. If you say "Yes" or "Maybe" to a profile, we'll secretly show them your profile the next time they sign in. They won't know you're interested in them - your profile will be blended in with other random profiles that match their search criteria, and no indication will be given as to which is which.

Q. What happens to profiles to whom I say "No"? Will they find out I rejected them?
A. No. Once you've said "No" to a profile, you won't see that profile again, unless you want to. And we'll never tell them you rejected them. If you regret saying "No" to someone, you can change your search preferences to include all of the profiles you've said "No" to again and choose a new answer if you wish.

Before the upgrade came about, members would see who said yes or maybe, which is how it stayed. The upgrade lets you see who actually said yes

Im confused yellow.
you posted 'if you both click maybe or yes then that will show as a mutual match.'

'The only ones that can see who says yes to them are the upgraded members.'

so, if we BOTH have said yes , we will show up to each other as a mutual match,,right?

so, by the time I see someone showing up as a mutual match, AS OPPOSED to someone who is in my mutual match OPTIONS,(find new mutual matches)

it means I have said yes to them, AND, they have said yes to me (find those already matched)?

Yes, Harmony, that's how it works.

This link: http://mingle2.com/mutual_match/your_matches will show those that have either said "Yes" or "Maybe" to you while you have said the same to them.

When finding NEW matches, it'll either show those that match your search criteria OR those that have said "yes" to you, even if they have nothing in common with what you're looking for.

Hope this helps.
