Topic: Do you think He gives up on people?

Sometimes I wonder... I was raised Roman Catholic, and my Mother always stressed the importance of how much God loves us all. In recent years I've started to wonder about this. I'm wondering if God gave up on me because of my past.

My Mother says God is testing me, and that I have to stay strong. I'm wondering why my test seems to be so hard. I was raised to believe that He will never burden us with more than we can carry, but I don't know how much more I can carry. In the past few months I've strayed from my church... I haven't attended a Mass since November, I just don't have the will to go. Are there any Roman Catholics that have maybe read the Bible a few more times than me that can possibly offer some advice or reassurance? Maybe some motivation?

Our father gives up on nobody. It sounds like it is you giving up on yourself. You've lost your strength in the lord it seems. When life gets hard lean on the lord. Lean on Jesus for the strength to carry on.

roman catholics have many treasures available to them, but unfortunately they are raised to believe that those treasures are accessible only by a priest. go to mass, it will be a familiar place and a step back in the right direction. maybe even confession, it could lead to an interesting conversation. if mass or confession still leaves you feeling down, message me privately

Thanks, guys. It helps hearing/reading these things. I know I should attend a Mass, but it's just hard to get back into it after getting in this mindset. I've felt very abandoned lately.

that's what the mass is for. it's a familiar place, and it doesn't have to be too personal too quickly, blend into the crowd. heck invite someone, that puts you in a position to have to go

That's a good idea. I have a friend I used to work with that's the same religion as I am... I could put on a happy face for a bit, maybe it would get me out of my rut.

I hope you're right, and if that's the case I hope it continues. I'd like to feel happy again and not have to fake a smile... It's been a while.

you started this thread in one frame of mind, and now you are in another. you are making you right and you can continue as long as you wish. someone watches over you even when you don't. i wouldn't be surprised to find that someone has been praying for you, and you will be led to where you need to be. listen brother, you are being led, look for the signs He is giving you. your life matters to Him

bro axl_rose posted this in the other thread you started, ain't God grand...

I strongly believe in the law of attraction. One gets to attract the things that he/she thinks most. If one thinks he/she will fail, he/she almost certainly will. If one thinks he/she'd be miserable, he/she will be miserable in no time at all. But if one thinks of being happy in life, one will find the happiness right at his/her doorstep soon enough for him/her to enjoy life. Happiness and the people/things who will make us happy are everywhere around us all. Sometimes we only have to change our dispositions in life and we'll get to find out that what we're looking for is right with us. Everything that passes by in our lives has reasons for being there, we have to learn to be grateful we experienced them no matter what this brought us.

Please be happy as our Creator has given us everything that will lead us to be...you guys are not alone and has never been alone even once in your lifetime...

No, HE doesn't give up on anyone!Sometimes it is us who give up on him though.

You know what, I am the kind of person who always look for scientific/spiritual explanations for anything I stand for or I believe with. But His mercy is one thing unexplainable to me in such ways and yet I believe because I have felt, experienced and witnessed. For someone who very seldom attends the mass, pray and communicates with him, I know I am not worthy of His graces but He has always been with me. That is no different with you lad.

Or attend a fellowship that would help you feel His mighty presence. Most of all, please open your heart honey and feel His touch. He is so much around you.

We do... Today go to Wal Mart and just watch people. So many people are obsessed with owning the best of everything, especially technology. So many people are more worried about buying that new plasma screen than they are putting that $5 in the collection plate. Do you need the 50" screen? I don't think so, settle for the 30" and then give some money to the church. That money will go to helping people who can't even afford a t.v., or food for that matter.

After spending some time thinking, and having one WEIRD dream, I've started realizing some things. God is most present in what we do, how we treat others. If we all act selfish, the world will appear selfish. If you take the time to help someone who truly needs it, good things will come back to you. Call it karma if you want, but I want to believe it's God rewarding us for acting how He intended mankind to act.

One can not walk away from something that steps when you step...

God walks with each of us daily.

most of us just don't feel his glory... We let the things of man draw our focus.

I am Roman Catholic and I have not been to mass in quite some time but I know I will be welcome when I go back - like a prodigal's son

your mom is just trying to do right by you-and ur smart to at least hear her

when I get a hard time with my spirit, I think more about the life of Jesus and hope that his spirit will look on my life and give it grace

good luck to you - your past is the past - do what you need to do - go where you need to go to find the truth that u seek- it isn't always inside a big room w/ stained glass - I spent most of my time staring out of them in mass

I see God in little miracles of love and grace that happen everyday - I can think of a bunch just from yesterday and today

and sometimes when I see God - he's not always Christian - but don't tell ur mom I said that - it might upset her:wink:

happy trails to you my friend

I have moved this topic to the Christian Singles forum and cleaned it up a bit, since the OP is asking for Christian advice.
