A Texas lawmaker wants to bring the illegal immigration problem directly to Congress. Literally.

A new proposal from Texas state Rep. Lois Kolkhorst would allow law enforcement officials to drop off illegal immigrants at the offices of any U.S. senator or representative.

The proposed bill only applies to illegal immigrants about to be released on bail or discharged after completing a sentence and does not detail what the U.S. senator or representative is supposed to do with them.

The bill merely authorizes law enforcement officers to release illegal immigrants to a congressional office, and to have an employee of that office sign a document acknowledging the transfer.

According to 1200 WOAI in San Antonio, Kolkhorst described the proposal as a "cry for help" to Congress over border security. She said she intends to push for approval in the legislature.

The bill is one of several anti-illegal immigration bills introduced in Austin, prompting thousands to march on the capital in protest of the measures Tuesday.

Another bill would allow local law enforcement to arrest, without a warrant, people they believe to be in the country illegally and turn them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

why dont police start arresting those they 'think might' not have paid proper taxes too, drop them off until the IRS clears it up,,,

its not the job of the police, they have enough trouble handling the responsibilities that their jobs require of them in their own community

Their job is to enforce the laws passed by the state and cities they work in. If the weiners in DC did their job states wouldn't have to do it for them and that should makes the DC idiots feel ashamed like children who just got a spanking for not listening.

So what are the police supposed to do? Eat donuts, write speeding tickets, and get fat?

NOW! AGAIN! IF YOU GET PULLED OVER FOR AN INFRACTION THE OFFICER HAS THE RIGHT AND OBLIGATION TO ASK YOU QUESTIONS INCLUDING IMMIGRATION STATUS. IF YOU ARE HERE ILLEGALLY HE IS OBLIGED TO ARREST YOU FOR BREAKING THE LAW! THEY CAN LEGALLY DETAIN YOU FOR 72 HOURS IF THEY FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING UP!

Sorry if the idea of having laws and enforcement bothers your sensitivities and humanitarian feelings. The problems of other countries are not our problems and we have no obligations to absorb their surplus populations!

immigration laws are FEDERAL as are tax laws

they arent the first line of action against irs offenders , neither should they be the first line of action against any other type of 'paperwork' offense

police are supposed to RESPOND to the calls of citizens in trouble, and patrol their communities for offenses against citizens, such as robbery, burglary, assault, rape,,,etc,,,

they have their hands pretty full with THOSE immediate duties to also take on random paperwork searches for the federal government

of course they do, they have the RIGHT to ask me if my marriage is legal too, but I would have the RIGHT to claim that was harassment that had nothing to do with the offense I Was being stopped for,,,
