How does someone like this get elected? Does anyone really believe like this?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1328366/John-Shimkus-Global-warming-wont-destroy-planet-God-promised-Noah.html It's this kind of thing that makes me think we'd all be a lot better off without religion. |

I agree. It is scary that they rule all of us.

The Illinois Republican continued: 'I believe that is the infallible word of God, and that's the way it is going to be for his creation.
'The earth will end only when God declares its time to be over. Man will not destroy this earth. This earth will not be destroyed by a flood. He added: 'Today we have about 388 parts per million in the atmosphere. I think in the age of dinosaurs, when we had the most flora and fauna, we were probably at 4,000 parts per million. There is a theological debate that this is a carbon-starved planet — not too much carbon. And the cost of a cap-and-trade on the poor is now being discovered.' NASA is funded and owned by?
The scientists who report there is 'Extreme' Global Warming get their grants from who? I hear, "Pay Al Gore enough and he will stop nature from happening." Too bad he wasn't around earlier. He could have saved the dinosaur. ![]() |

I think you've missed my point. Here's an elected official that wants to base an energy policy on God's word to Noah.
It's lunacy! |

I didnt get that from the article. I get that he believes in the Bible, but not that he is going to base policy upon it. I have always felt the earth is not in danger, its a preposterous supposition to think it would be, in my opinion, because it is a PLANET. The planet is not going to cease to be because of anything WE do,,, it might change its form, it might be uninhabitable for US, but we will die off long before the Earth does.
He is an ***, but he makes sense on this point regardless of his religious belief. |
