MY STORY.

After smoking 30 plus cigarettes a day for many years, I stopped ONE month ago today.

HOW have I managed to survive for so long without succoming?

It got to the stage where I used to wake up every morning, and the first thing I would do after opening my eyes would be to
'light up'
I then got out of bed, have my my shower, get dressed and have my daily cup of morning tea. (English ya know)
I would also have my second cancer stick whilst watching the morning news.
I would then go to work, and as I work out in the open air, there was seldom more than 20 minutes that there wouldn't be a stick hanging from between my lips.
Then on that day last month, it had reached the stage when I felt physicaly sick.
I had just finished the last cigarette in the pack, said to my workmate,
"That's it. NO MORE cigarettes for me."
Since that day, I've had no cravings, no withdrawal symptoms, no weight gain from the extra snacking, and I feel better and healthier already.
The only problem is that my fingers have become a lot twitchier. frustrated lol

I didn't visit any doctors.
Didn't get any of those 'nicotine' patches.
Haven't paid for any expensive counsellors.

I've used my own willpower.
And am therefore very proud of myself for achieving this feat.

So if 'I' can do it, ANYONE can.

Anyone else successfully stopped?

Congrats to you on quitting cold turkey...Which is the way I feel is the best way to do it.

Myself it has been 8 years as of last month. I quit due to the birth of my first granddaughter.

My habit consisted of 3 packs a day I was the typical chain smoker. I used straws cut up the length of cigarettes to hold in my hand with peppermint candy to suck on when the cravings hit. I refused to use the patches as well. I mean hell I wanted to get away from the nicotine not just find another way to get itnoway noway

It is not a easy habit to break one must really want to quit and have some goals as well.

I would treat myself with some of the money I saved about every 2-3 weeks for about 3 months, a kind of pat on the back for making it that far.....

In the past I have quit and started back up even after 2 years of not smoking.....Now all those cravings no longer bother me last thing I want is a cigarette...whoa

I am giving up today, gave up for ten years then started again and now I don't even like the taste of them plus they are getting more and more expensive. Will power is my patch not nicotine patches.
