Hahaha I remember as a kid getting tricked into that one and did it to a few growing up myself....

Simmilar thing: When we were visiting Florida, our folks told us that we could catch the sand pipers if we sprinkled salt on their tails. Spent the better part of the afternoon chasing after those poor little bird (as I recall, we didn't have the salt shaker though)

We have sand pipers here too and they are ridiculously fast on their tiny stilts.
I love watching them run from larger waves when they are wading too. it is like watching a school of air fish the way they move in unison. |
