when you don't have a cleaner disc, there has to be a way?

Yeah... You have to take it apart, and clean the lense with denatured alcohol, and a q-tip. That's the only other way... I always wondered how and why DVD players need to be cleaned? I've owned mine for years and years, and never needed to clean them once. Are people shoving rediculously dirty discs into your players?

Oh... Lol! That makes sense... The only DVD's I put in my players, I buy. Otherwise, If i want to rent, I just rent it on my cable. On-Demand.

Trust me, I'll save myself the headache and just buy a new one!

Who knows - this is an old one that hasn't been used a whole lot, but it's messing up these last couple days...

then I figured out that um, my laptop plays DVDs!
OK, it's not a 47" screen, but it'll do!

I never heard of it happening, either. But if there is a booger on the lens, you might get lucky with one of the cans o wind for blowing out heatsinks. Open the tray and stick the nozzle in and move it back n forth. (that sounds strangly erotic. i need a life) It's worth a try. Other than cracking it open and physically cleaning the lens, I think that's about all you can do.
Best of luck to you.
