I am sorry to all those who are offended by my username. I thought it sounded better than funnybone and I'm a cancer, so 69 is my sign. If you judge me by my name and not make an attempt to get to know me, then what kind of person are you?

There has been a considerable amount of discussion in these forums about user names. I think the real issue here is that there have been, in the past, a number of men who incorporated "69" and/or some other vaguely and/or not-so-vaguely sexual references into those names. Most of these guys have come across as uncivilized dullards with the social skills of a rotted pumpkin.

So I think what you're really seeing is a more-or-less automatic reaction to the perception of a sexually-oriented user name. Right or wrong, we've run across enough of these that some people are going to have an almost reflexive negative reaction.

It has nothing to do with what kind of people we are; it has to do with the history of what we've seen over the years.

To make matters worst to change it you have to change your email.

I understand all that, because I've run into a few myself. If I were to judge everyone on the bad of a few, then we'd all be in hell. I know there are sick people on here and in the world, but come on! It's time to grow up! I'm getting down off my soapbox and will never return to the forums. Too many clicks here. It's true. I have carpal tunnel syndrome from all the clicking I have had to do to get a date here. Ridiculous.

I don't know what kind of a person I am, it's par for the course.

But your username is a gas. The less you apologize for it, but you do apologize, the stupider you sound. Once you start to apologize for it, the best thing is to overdo it, growel and beg, for a very long time, and everyone will know it's meant to be done in fun and in good humour.

We are a bunch of fun-loving people here on the forums, which is quite surprising, seeing hardly anyone ever gets laid. (Krupa is on thin ice because of this requirement... he is not compliant, so he is always at the brink of becoming a social outcast here. That's why he is so conspicuously nice and cajouling with everyone on the site in sight.)

When one of us does, the drinks are on him/her.

So please don't feel that you need to feel self-conscious about your name... it's a good attention-getter, it breaks the ice, you can start a conversation by its own strength and take it from there any direction you want to.

It will still bother some of us, but if you want to find a surefire one that does not bother ANYONE, you won't find one. (WUX's been taken already, you see.)

Instead of trying to please all of us, you should concentrate your energies on trying to unplease all of us, and you will make more friends and more quickly that way. (Enemies, too, but you know what? F... the enemies. You can't your friends, so your only option remaining for this are your enemies. That's why everyone needs some enemies around here.)

Look, no one cares what your screen name is. You asked for opinions and you got them. We were just trying to give you advice based on our experience. Like Lex said.

You need to have a very thick skin and a good sense of humor to participate in the forums. We'd like you to stay if you'll lighten up a little and have some fun.
