If a terrorist blows up a log cabin in a forrest and CNN doesn't cover it, is it terror, or just a random act of violence?

It would be terrorism to the Owner of the cabin. But to everyone else it would be some nut blowing crap up.

And the tree that falls in the forest still makes a sound Actually, it makes a sound wave. If there's no ears around to catch the sound wave then no sound is heard. If no one knows the terrorest made a statement then he can't be very terrifying. |

The thing is the media profits from sensationalization, drama, and fear. Sadly terrorism is America's new blood sport. Its us Against the World! Really it always will be us against the Lunatic fringe everywhere in life you go! |

I'm not sure... Does the media hijack planes? Does the media attach bombs to their backs and wade into crowds. Does the media? They simply report. Some with a left lean some with a right... But they do just report. |

Terrorist are not going to blow up a log cabin in the forrest (unless by accident while mixing their bomb). It would surve them no purpose... No impact to rest of the world... equals no terror applied to anyone but the log cabin. A lone gunman in AZ attempting to kill people was not an act of terrorism and no amount of wishing will make it so... It was an act purpetrated simply to kill and get rid of some percieved frustration. |

Terrorism is what results when a violent act is reported. I can not be terrorized by a bunch of terrorist if I know nothing of their actions. True, they could come to my home and terrorize me individually but I don't think the terrorest will get too far traveling around America terrorizing one person at a time. Without the media the terrorest would be powerless. |

If there are no mass of people at the cabin in the woods then it would not be terrorism. With media coverage or without media coverage you can not have terrorism without terrorizing the masses. |
