Jared Lee Loughner Shoots Congresswoman & Perturbs the Angry Red Haze Overshadowing America
The angry red haze billowing over America was perturbed by the shooting of a Congresswoman outside of a Safeway in Tucson, Arizona. It was this vicious agitation that has torn the lids from the closed eyes of America and forced a new and sudden awareness of how thick and encompassing that furious national red cloud has become. To think we'd let the choking red haze of political rhetoric freely fill and poison every news media outlet, town hall meeting, and neighborly conversation. America has continued to feed this rolling red cloud, and the hateful rhetoric has now overshadowed not only our political atmosphere, but has seeped into the collective dialogue of our free and paranoid country. I've long been wondering when the first shots were going to take place in this political frenzy of ours. To be fair and honest, the lethal gunshots of a maddened 22 year old named Jared Lee Loughner were not the first shots of a hysterical political system, and they won't be the last. As Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords fights for her life, we must understand her tragedy is America's tragedy. It is 2011 and America should be past the senseless 'hero' killings. There should no longer be gunshots used to prove points, nor should the killing of American politicians and ideologues stand as a 'turning point' or commencement of revolution. America should be a land of many ideas, and at the end of the day, Americans should defend the rights of their neighbors' beliefs in an attempt to salvage their own. But in 2011, America has regressed. America, as she stands, has teeth clenched, her stomach in knots, her sphincter clenched against volatile waves of nausea. Her brain is swamped in endogenous chemical cocktails producing a simultaneous fear/hate/anger/apathetic high. She has been breathing for far too long this pungent red smog. She is insane and tortured, and while America holds her torch high, her thoughts are in order to lower her flame and light her flowing garment afire. While she shrieks in searing pain, while the flames eat her gown and then grab her hair, America will still be bewildered about who caused her this final act of shameful death by fire. The politically charged red cloud has finally been spotted. It glows a glorious scarlet tonight in the raging spiteful fires burning across the bleak American expanse. The fires are frightfully consuming and fueled by political trash. We've been forced to feel its heat, but this time we cannot close our eyes, nor can we turn away. The haze has become dreadfully bitter. We can now taste it. Our climate is red versus blue. There is no reason to be bi-partisan in America these days. The Red has launched its campaign and determined the Blue to be anti-American, to be in league with terrorism, and to be working to undermine and unravel the very binding fabric of America's goodness. The Blue has done little to defend itself. The Blue members have been painted blue and have been placed in front of a bright-colored red backdrop. They march around, like the rest of us, unaware of just how toxic the red fog of fear and hate has become. The Blue have been labeled socialists, communists, fascists, terrorists, and atheists, all of whom are unpatriotic and treasonous. The Blue have been cast as targets and the crosshairs have been placed on their heads. This is our political climate; we have fostered it, promoted it, condoned it, or failed to recognize and take a firm enough stand against it. Many Americans will ask how we came to this, the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords, an Arizona congresswoman. But the real question is how America will ever get out of this. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/6199770/jared_lee_loughner_shoots_congresswoman_pg2.html?cat=9 Indeed! |

yes.... indeed.
We have allowed them in guise of free speech to incite hate and fear with misinformation and to down right lies about others with very little denouncement from those in power. When a congress member can't control himself during a presidential speech to scream out like a child in a rant we should have seen what was coming. When the birthers continued to spread their completely untrue propaganda to discredit the president we should have seen it and nipped it in the bud I know I figured when the law suit was shot down on the issue that the people would have the sense to stop but no, the president was still black and there is no way they could have that so they continued on and on and on....... Palin suggested that Obama was a terrorist and a socialist the whole time she was campaigning with no valid reason to say it. And it goes forward from there. I was so disappointed that Obama did not stand up to this. I know he probably couldn't have done much but I would have like to have seen him show them he wasn't going to "compromise" on some of this crap. |

How can he stand up to it when he cant deny it??

Indeed, he could have been tougher, but would we have accomplished as much? Could the dire needs of our broken economy have waited?
My only complaint with Obama is he didn't prosecute Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the neocons. By not doing so he created an environment where we hear "forget Bush," "quit blaming everything on the past," etc. He swept their crimes under the rug and truly let the country forget what brought us here. In the same sweep he gave the Republican Party a sense of invulnerability. It did nothing to rein in their above the law mentality or instill in them accountability for their actions. |

|
First, he'd have to prove who he really is in order to have anybody prosecuted.
Since he refuses, he has no merit in that area. |

And which economic advisers did Obama keep? Bush's if I remember. Janet Reno blatantly broke Constitutional law using military assets on civilian targets domestically. She was a Dem if I remember correctly??? Did not Waco AND Ruby Ridge happen under the Clinton Years?
And of course blaming it all on Republicans... Just like Illegal Immigration. It is fine when people break the law in your favor but when we want enforcement Oh NO Laddybuck! This shooting unfortunately is the sentiments of a lot of different folks. When talk proves meaningless then comes action. Now the wheels of justice will take about three or four years to just get to trial. On top of that he will have creds in prison for taking a shot at a Congresswoman. He also has creds for being a killer. Among inmates he will have celebrity status. Even in the media with an open attempt to vilify him there will be those who will revere his actions. Unless this is handled delicately this will turn into a martyrdom and will go bad for everyone. Personally I feel the Death Penalty applies here very much so but OH NO! WE CAN'T DO THAT, THAT IS UNCIVIL! Go ahead and blame the Republicans for the actions of one man. That is just so weak and shows how much you seek the mote in your brother's eye while missing the log in your own! |

They are already saying that he will face the Death Penalty.
And we alreadu know that the liberals will vigorously try to block that option and save his life. We already know that the very liberals here on this forum will now argue in favor of saving his life as well. What a confused bunch!! They are thirsty for blood from Palin or a Republican, but they will do a 100% flip and argue that he was mentally insane and that he was a product of an environment that was unkind to him. Yeah, you socialist liberals...we already know all about it. |

Will Arizona put down a mentally unstable man though?

Thomas.
You see a trend? It's all about the Celebrity he shot. Not much Media attention for the peons he killed and wounded. Disclaimer. The Celebrities life is of value. Just, no more or less than the rest. |

This whole event is about one crazy who could have stolen a gun if he couldn't have purchased one. It is not about gun laws.
He was insane. Period. It is not about political rhetoric. The liberal media who are focusing on all the fingers pointing in all the directions don't focus on the fact that it may have been their slanted sensationalism that set the nut off. |
