look in your device manager to see if the driver is working, and maybe update the disk driver while there...

humm said the cd disc driver was in there properly, then i ran it and it said the best driver is already in there.

vista is a big problem... reinstall XP, or find a copy of win 7
vista has always had problems with disks not working, quite a few games won't work with vista either...

plus Vista is a virus magnet!.i've tried Vista several times and each time,i had to reinstall it because after a month or so of use,i would get some pretty heavy viruses.after about the 3rd time,i said to heck with it and went back to XP

i got my pic disc to work again.. it was pulling up on the music player before.. however i can not find where to make documents pull up.. not in the same area.. the disc does work on my neighbors vista.. and did on mine too before.. so did the pics.. somehow my settings have been changed... pretty frustrating if you ask me... and my computer wont go back far enough to restore. only goes back to dec 6!

I keep my resume in my email, that way I can access it from anywhere. Photos can also go on Flickr or Picasa. Hope you got everything working again!

well, if you're putting data and music on the same disk, you have to mark that in the program you use to burn CDs. If you burn a data CD, it won't play music and if you burn a music CD, it won't read data.

That is, of course, if she relies on the choice she'd made when windohs first asked her how to handle that type of disk with a default app. Once the disk is mounted, she should be able to use a file browser/ manager to see what's on it after she closes what windohs has elected to open for that disk.
It's one of the neato things about newer windohses; they've made it so stupid-proof that it's more difficult to use. Try to wrap your head around that!
