Firefly, really?! Lol! My short haired dogs are worse, and their fur is spikey and digs in through the clothes! At least any long haired dogs leave theirs lying on top.

Shaving a dog? Why does anyone get longhaired dogs? How many of you shave your hair off totally? After all, you shed too.

Don't shave the poor dog, especially in the winter.

I'll have to go with what everyone else said and use lint rollers. I recommend the ones with the masking tape, as they seem to work the best.

Nope too much work.

Just let the drifts of dog hair build then use the 5-6 pounds you can harvest every few months to make Polish Felt! It also makes great stocking stuffers!

well I know what I am getting you for Christmas! LOL.

I use a lint roller for dress clothes if needed, but my pittys don't shed bad except for a few weeks in the spring! Not like the long haired dogs I've had! The ex bf has a husky mix & hate letting her in my truck! You can't get rid of her hair even with a vacuum. My dogs are red & seal so their hair kinda blends in with stuff too!

My Lady, which is half German Shepherd and half Labrador doesn't shred so much with her fur as she shreds plastic pop bottles and plastic bags. She is an excellent digger and has holes all over the yard.

When we had the Pyrenees, mom would bag their hair and send it to a woman in Canada who weaves it into hats for cancer patients

I have 2 dogs. A yellow lab named Butter, who sheds all year round. And Sheba a Siberian Huskey, who sheds at what is called Blowing. Cause clumps comeout. Twice a year. I was so fed up with hair EVERYWHERE! Had sheets on my couch and recliner cause the hair would get caught on it and take me 2 hours to vaccum it off. And NO they are not allowed on the furniture. So i checked online what ppl recommended. And everyone was recommending Hoover Wind Tunnel Pet. And It is AMAZING! its about 200.00 But so worth it. I even use it in the truck. When the dogs are in there. I no longer have to have sheets on my couches to keep their hair off. And it takes me maybe five minutes to get all the hair off.flowerforyou

There is a new 'brand' of dog brush and one for cats - called Furminator. They aren't necessarily cheap but they will get the hair off them and after awhile of regular use there is very little shedding!

Well worth the $20!

Furminators are excellent! Especially if you stay on it. I got started using that when I had my rabbit, and it made a huge difference. Now I use it on my lab mix in the spring, and the longhaired dogs. Also the horses when they're blowing their coats too.
