Topic: Would you go on a second date if this happened to you?

I think it's an outdated tradition. When I really like a woman, I will bend over backward and do back flips for her. If I just want to get to know her, I prefer to meet somewhere in between. Maybe I pay the tab, but we take seperate cars. Or maybe we split the tab, and I insist on paying most of it. It depends on the woman and her own views.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Nice job

So going "dutch" should be the new dating rule? Until of course you decide that you like them enough...

Unfortunately for the OP her date couldn't even have afforded his portion...

What's wrong with that?
If you think they're worth the time, why should money matter?

Many, many, successful people started out broke.

It has nothing to do with being broke.. He couldn't have afforded his part of the dinner (I made an edit)...

I think that whatever a persons dating preferences are is fine for them.. I think it's great that women know ahead of time that men want to go dutch and that when they're really, really liked the man will show it by paying and not making her pay...

Going dutch is a good idea at first. It's also a good idea not to go on a date if you can't afford at least your half. That should go for men and women.

I don't think paying is a good way to show you really like someone. I'd much rather see how much someone likes me in other ways.

no. don't end the thread...
i have a great second date in the works for you to send me the money for!!!!!!

so how much do you think this date is going to cost me???????????spock

do we really want to haggle over cost when we will have such a good time (doing our own thing) not having to deal with all of the pressure of actually going on the date. seems like money well spent to me.

plus there is the added bonus of you not having to put up with a pair of unwanted lips and an over anxious tongue darting your way at the end of the evening.

again are you not the one who said looks matter...if this is so, why shouldn't the fact that he couldn't pay even his share be any different?

That's what I said.

The fact is if a guy wants to be with a girl, the kiss is his way of finding out of he's making the right choice, I guess.

For us, it's better than finding out later, that the girl is inexperienced. Most guys hate wasting their time. If the woman is as willing to make an "investment"(best word I could think of...)then she should atleast reciprocate the dude's desire to make a move.

with him only having $5 to contribute to the date "he" asked her on WHY on earth would she be willing to make the "investment"... unless of course it's "investing her money in supporting his sorry azz".. Even then I doubt he could offer anything worth her doing that...

Well, the dude didn't have to go into total douche mode to play this card. I mean, ask the chick if she doesn't mind paying her own bill for dinner (1st date). I don't feel that is asking to much if both agree beforehand to do it. But.....but....pick the chick up. I mean, that is like unacceptable to all pimps out there. The only exception is if the dude has a Schwinn.
