I got a good laugh at some of these replies. Move it to the Christianity section!!!!!!!!We can't possibly have a pro Christianity topic in the General religion section. No,no,no we can only have the nauseating,Christianity sucks,Christianity is bad for the planet,Christianity is the reason for all my problems and yours, blah, blah, blah. Isn't it a little arrogant to presume only your way of thinking is right though man? How can God be everywhere and yet be in one place? He can't, this is the problem in a nutshell with christianity and really organized religion as a whole. From a wholly logical standpoint, it simply does not make sense. God can be everywhere for he is omnipresent. There is only a problem in Christianity for those whom wish to try to make one. All in all there is no problem with Christianity if you try to understand it with a sincere heart rather then premeditated thoughts of it being fiction. |

Yes but do you not understand what I am saying? How can only one faith of all the faiths in the world be right, and everyone else wrong? How is it loving of a loving God to play favorites in such a way? If He's more loving then we, this and more simply does not work. And again if God is everywhere, He can then be felt in each and every religion if you seek Him. Do you think people somehow can't feel God simply because they are not Christian or don't believe as you do? |

And another thing, what does it say of a loving God if we are truly predestined either to choose Him or to reject Him? Oh sure, we have "free will", but how is is really free if God knows our decisions before we make them? If the game is rigged, and some of us are rigged to go to Hell, how loving is God truly then, or how loving is man's idea of God?
Secondly......what kind of free will do we have to choose Him if there's a catch? "Oh you're free to reject me, but I'll burn you forever". Real nice isn't it? Yeah that's free will, more like fear tactics to keep us in line. |

Yeah that's free will, more like fear tactics to keep us in line. No one is predestined for anywhere. Our fate comes from judgement of the actions we've done through our lives. No we can't "buy" our way into heaven, but we definitely can be punished for our transgressions and not enter into heaven. Heaven is merely a reward for our obedience, it is us showing we are not disobedient as Adam and Eve were whom got kicked out of the garden of Eden for their disobedience. |

Drive down the highway going the exact speed limit, usually 75 in the USA. As you're driving 75 you'll see many people pass you by, thus you're right and everyone else that passes you is wrong. |

Yeah that's free will, more like fear tactics to keep us in line. The bible was written by ruthless hateful men who lusted to have power over the masses. It has nothing to do with any God. Of that we can be absolutely certain, because the Bible tells us so. Even the authors of the Bible shot themselves in the foot by making the claim that only good fruit can come from a good source. Yet the bible has been the source of many atrocities. Therefore, by its very own proclamation it cannot be the word of God. The Bible cannot be true. Period. So now we know this with absolute certainty. |

If that's the case, we really have no choice in what we do, we're just playing out a script basically. If we have no control in this sense over what we do, then yes we are predestined. |

So now we know this with absolute certainty. No my friend the BIBLE has not been the cause of many atrocities. People's actions have been the cause of many atrocities which the bible did not support. No my friend, you misunderstand. The BIBLE has been the inspiration for many atrocities. The Crusades were carried out in the very name of Jesus as the the Christ. Therefore the Bible brought forth the fruit of that inspiration. Same is true for the writing of the Malleus Maleficarum. This was inspired in the minds of Christian monks who read the BIBLE and even believed it to be the word of their divine Father, just as you have been inspired to view it. So all of these things have been inspired by this book and thus it is this book that brought forth the fruit of these inspirations. One could include Hitler's views in this as well, since it's clear that he also quoted from the Bible in various speeches using it to inspire antisemitism. So the Bible has indeed been that cause of the inspiration that lead to atrocities in the name of Jesus as the Christ. Therefore this book cannot be from any divine source, by it's own proclamation within, that no evil can come from a divine source. The book has been shown to be clearly not of a divine source. So steer clear of it my friend if you are truly interested in divinity. |

And I do not know of the other things you mentioned, but I'm sure it falls into the same category of false witnessing. |

The Bible teaches to turn the other cheek, yet for our transgressions does God? No. What does that say about Him or at least the God depicted in the Bible? Why is it He plays by other rules then His supposed word proclaims? |

http://mingle2.com/topic/show/290082?page=2 That would be like saying that some member of the KKK who just happens to claim to be a Christian is representative of all Christians. Therefore this book cannot be from any divine source, by it's own proclamation within, that no evil can come from a divine source. The book has been shown to be clearly not of a divine source. No, sorry nice try but no cigar. Again these are all examples of what we are not to do, lol weather they did it in the name of Jesus or not, this is not what Christianity supports nor does the bible. The bible teaches us to turn the other cheek, that cancels out the crusades right there. And I do not know of the other things you mentioned, but I'm sure it falls into the same category of false witnessing. You're looking at it from an extremely self-centered point of view. You're assuming that everyone should see 'your interpretations' of everything and that all other interpretations are therefore absolutely wrong. But clearly everyone does not see the Bible in the same way. Many Christians I've known hold out the notion that Jesus was speaking to his fellow Jews and was therefore offering instructions on how to behave toward other Jews (not toward heathens). Jesus never said, "turn the other cheek to a heathen". Moreover Jesus also taught that not one jot nor one tittle shall pass from law. Jot and tittles refer to writings and the only writings he could have been referring to at that time were the writings of the Torah. The Torah clearly states that we are to murder heathens with no mercy and even kill their wives and children. It also tells us not to suffer a witch to live. So there most certainly are interpretations that can support things like crusades and witch hunts. Your idea that only your views and interpretations are representative of the Bible is precisely the kind of thinking that makes this dogmatic religion so dangerous. Your interpretations might be correct. But who's to say that they are? In fact, if it's your stance that it should be obvious that to turn the other cheek is somehow more "divine" than to murder heathens, then you would be suggesting that the God of the Old Testament is not "divine" because clearly the God of the Old Testament did indeed instruct people to do those things. Therefore you can't even make an appeal to an idea that we should just use common sense to try to see which seems to be the better behavior, because as soon as we move in that direction we have no choice but to recognize that by that same way of thinking we must condemn everything that's in the Old Testament as being unwise. So you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. You can't offer any justifications for your interpretations that would trump any other interpretations. People who hold out the notion that it was clearly God's desire that we should murder heathens and witches in the Old Testament, and that it's also clear that Jesus taught that he did not come to change the laws and that not one jot nor one tittle shall in no wise pass from law. Then things like Crusades, witch hunts, or even heathen hunts, become totally justified and open game in the name of Jesus! Those are perfectly valid interpretations as well, whether you like it or not. |

Peter Pan,
Your misunderstandings are your problem. The things you've posted about me that you claim are 'contradictions' are not contradictions at all. They are simply misunderstandings on your part. I never stated that "All Christians" do anything, nor believe the same things, nor anything remotely like that. Therefore these things that you believe appear to be "contradictions" are not in conflict at all. ~~~~~ In no way did I claim that any of the atrocities that I mentioned here were supported by "All Christians" nor did I claim that they are representative of "All Christians". All I did here was show that the Bible has historically inspired atrocities, which is TRUTH. ~~~~ So your personal accusations against me are total fabrications of your own mind. They have no merit whatsoever. They represent nothing more than your own inability to comprehend the things I actually say. |

That's your interpretation which you don't even respect yourself because you still judge others based on things that come from the Old Testament. Redykeulous already called you on it in another thread. If you're going to take the stance the Jesus brought a New Covenant and that we are no longer to judge others, they you must stop judging others, but you refuse to do that. |
