I went thru this with my mom 3 yrs ago.. All my prayers and strength are with you and your mom... Its not easy but you will find a way to let go when its time.. I had to tell my mom it was ok and then she went...love to you...

Heya Indigo......my heart goes out to you....it's a double whammy when it's your mum...
You sound as though you gave her what she needed, love, devotion, and gentle daughter caring....nurturing. There's something profound about becoming the nurturer of the one who nurtured us, isn't there?...for me it was releasing...to just pour love, affection, gentle attention, and kindness into her. After my mum passed, I sat with her body for 4 hours....then helped the nurse prep her for the funeral home...washed her....and blessed her, honoured her...and released her....I gave her the indigenous woman's way....I thnaked her feet for the miles they carried her, her knees for the flexibility of her nature, her strong thighs that supported her huge heart....her hands for how much they carried, etc etc etc....honoured the vessel that housed my mother's essence. I hope you have loads of loved ones, to hold you, comfort you, and most importantly , to listen to you...

Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. Amen. AMEN!!

This is not an easy time but it is a profound one if you stay conscious. I lost my mom earlier this year and it is one of the hardest things and yet I am so grateful for her final lessons to me which came from allowing me the honour of being with her at the end.
Like Jess, I stayed with her for a long time after. There was a great sense of peace after a long hard struggle. I am grateful to have the memory of the peace be my last one with her. Allow yourself to feel what you feel fully without getting wrapped up in what you should be feeling or doing. Your journey together is you your own. My heart goes out to you in love and light. |
