1 dog - 10 yr old female Rat Terrier

4 nieces - breeds unknown

2 nephews - breeds also unknown

glasses

I had a female Rat Terrier! They are the best dogs!

Now, a psychotic white cat with one ear and half a tail.

And a beautiful black Lab mix named Clover.

they are the best dogs.i know a lot of people think of them as Chihuahuas but Ratties are very protect and very loyal.not to mention awesome hunting dogs!

mine hunts squirrels,rabbits,snakes,and possums

that is one thing I loved about my cats - never had mice problems - we lived in the country and every fall when it started to get cold the mice would try to come in, but the cats really kept them down. Oh, and Soufie, I think your pet photo is great, they are darling!

i used to have 2 cats.both males.when i moved from the outskirts out town to in the middle of town, they both kept getting their azzes kicked by the HUGE stray cat (the damn thing even scared the crap out of my dog!).one of the males had to have his tail removed because of the damage the stray did to him and the other cat started having "crazy episodes",so i gave them both away.one later had to be put to sleep and i haven't heard how the other is doing.(btw the 2 cats were brothers)

a yellow lab named Butter. He is almost 2 and is a riot.. Love to go on the kayak with me. Surf's with my boyfriend. Boogieboard. Can't keep him outta the water. I run him 4-6 miles a day and he is still crazy! nothing tires him out! But he is my lil buddy and he is a PATRIOTS fan lol. We have matching Brady jerseys. I love him. I can't imagine life without my lil monster!

and in July we rescued a siberian husky I named Sheba aka Shebby Lou.
She was a few blocks from my house and tied to a pole all day every day! and in june we had the hottest month. And she would sit hunched back, looking sad and hot! I would see her everyday and it was breaking my heart. So one day i told my boyfriend i was gonna leave a note and see if they wanted to get rid of her. Or i was gonna steal her. lol.. So I left a note and 2 hours later the owner called me and said "come get her!" I was there in a few minutes. She was akc registered and he was using her for breeding. After her first litter she got lose and got hit by a car. He did pay for her to get her hip fixed. And then he still breed her 2 more times! She is now 5 years old. She was matted, skinny, dirty and lonely. I took her home. cut the mats out, brushed her, bathed her. Exercised her 2 times a day. (run her 4-6 miles) She has gained a lil over 12 pounds. Her coat is shinny. She is house trained and knows her commands. She is LOVED now! She does have a slight limp due to her getting hit by a car and surgury. But since i been running her, she now has muscles and more active. I ran into her previous owner one day at the beach and he was like "wow she loooks great!" I said "yep, amazing what a bath and some love can do!" She didn't even know how to play like a dog.. Now she is running around with Butter. Playing, howling, digging, being bad in the house lol. But I love her and glad we found her and she loves us back. She found a forever home with us!

Yep, love them all even when they drive me nuts. Nothing like just sitting out while filling up water tanks and having them come up for a scratch on the head. The cattle like to slurp my arm though Hart likes to grab it. The pigs want belly rubs.

Its not quiet but its relaxing.

that's wonderful bella! I love the rescues and my animals are everything to me too!

equus & jess, love every minute of it! Farm life is never dull, but the animals are always worth my time. Every time I walk quietly through the pasture (well, i am not stealthy at all, but don't actually call to the horses every time I go out there) and get followed by a sweet, curious little horse it makes my day! I even love the ones that aren't mine & spend just about every weekend working on something that they have broken! The landlord and his daughter tell me not to, but they are both much older than I am and shouldn't be doing the crap either-LOL.

It's really hard to drag me off the place on the weekends-LOL!
I can swim in the river, camp in the woods, ride ponies (to the corner store), walk the dogs, have a big-azz fire!

sparky->they are fun little dogs!

Yeah, there's no telling what will follow me around in the pasture. Normally it's the horses or goats, which can be somewhat funny when ya want to go check out the wildlife QUIETLY. Not happening with bleating goats. LOL!

Lately, however, the cattle have softened the edges on a couple areas of the central ditch on the property (6-8ft deep, cuts the place in half), so the one pig has taken to wandering across and into the back pasture. I'm hoping that as a pink pig, the idiot neighbors won't attempt to shoot her through the fence thinking she's a feral.

pet photo is great, they are darling!

Thank you, they are the best.
I have not told them yet they are cats.
Maybe when they are 18.
If I think they can handle it.
So, keep it on the down low :-)

Human Body Host for Bugs?
Published by Ruby Hawk
May 19, 2010, Category: Human Biology

The human body relies on bugs for health and life. Without the microbes the human body plays host to, there would be no human life. Scientists tell us we are 90% bugs and 10% human. The number of microbes our lives depend are staggering. Maybe it would be more appropriate to label ourselves as a "human-microbe hybrid".

The human body is host to 100 trillion microbes. Without these “bugs” we could not live. They are vital to human life and without them there would be no human life. These vast number of bugs that live in the body have vital work to do. The DNA of these bugs have been found to contain 60,000 genes, twice the number found in our own DNA. They carry the code for enzymes that humans don’t have and do things humans can’t do. When all is told, each of us is really a human-microbe hybrid.

Image via Wikipedia

The human body contains only 10 trillion cells while we are host to 100,000 trillion microbes. Scientist jokingly say that a human is 90% microbes and 10% human. The total weight of all those microbes in one body is about the weight of our own liver. These bugs live in our mouth, eyes, reproductive organs and in our gut. Millions live in our gut alone. We could not digest food without them. In the colon these bugs synthesise our vitamins and breaks down fiber. In fact without these vital bugs we could not live or even be born.

Scientists are currently at work labeling all these bugs that are so vital for life and health. Already over 1,000 species in the gut have been labeled. Among many other studies new connections are coming to light about how bacteria can effect how fats are processed, and the likelihood of developing diabetes. How microbes effect other diseases are also being studied. Scientists are seeing possibilities in improving health by meddling with our microbes.

Ability to Live in High Places Leads to Dna »

First signatures of all the chemicals that mirobes interactions create in the body will be collected. Then computers will go through vast lists of information and look for metabolic profiles that coralate with health and disease. Scientists will then search for ways to alter them. It might be with diet, drugs, or probiotics that contain helpful bacteria.

Isn’t it shocking to think how we fight every little bug we see with insect repellent and yet we are loaded with bugs who do the work that keeps us alive. Maybe we should put the bug spray away and appreciate bugs. After all we are 90% bugs.
