What promises hAVE YOU made that you couldn't keep?

i never promise anything to anyone.

That's good. A guy made a promise to me last week. As of today...he didn't keep it. Just curious...

I never make promises...I promise!

Using the word "promise" implies that you believe a person should/would follow through with their word. You must realize this value is next to impossible to find in anyone today.
We're all guilty. "Be there in ten ...", "I'm sure doing this wont matter to anyone", "Once we pay ________ (fill in the blank), then you can get ______", "Just one more task and I'll be finished", "We'll do it tomorrow". "You do it this time, next is my turn", etc etc etc.

Sure, life gets in the way, but do we really consider the impact making these small assurances, and the possibility of not being able to complete them, has on those we're speaking to? Is it true that this type of dishonesty has become every-day, mundane, and expected in our lives?

I say, it pays to be more careful.
That is, if you wish the person you're making promises to to continue to have trust, respect, and confidence in you.

It's a symptom of the Human Condition. Modern man has lost the meaning of integrity.

None that I recall I'm big on if I promise something I carry through with it. The way I see it is don't make a promise if you have no intentions of completing that promise....

I try not to use that word...and if I do, I mean it.

I've kept every promise I've ever made. I don't give those things out lightly. The way I figure it, if you aren't going to keep your word, you shouldn't open your mouth in the first place.

I not only avoid saying "I promise", I also try to explicitly disclaim statements of intention, lest the listener mistake them for promises.

I made a promise to my BFF about keeping her cat safe for the weekend while she travel and ma dog ate him couple hours after she left
