well, in fairness and logic, there is a reason people HAVE titles, or else we would just be calling everyone mr and mrs

President, doctor, senator, officer ,, are all indications of what someones JOB TITLE is,,, sir or mam are just GENERAL terms of respect that extend to nothing but GENDER

It's called a power trip. In the military there are three acceptable ways of addressing a Senator and he did in in s correct way.

Calling out a Two or Three Star is not a wise thing to do.

And she didn't earn a damn thing. She got the most votes. That guy EARNED his rank and the medals on his chest and should not have been dressed down like that on national TV. He earned the right to be treated with more respect then that twit on a power trip gave him.

politicians earn their title by their campaign work, their investement of time and effort into their position

the skit was just a parody, but if she said please and thank you, I dont see the disrespect

It's complete disrespect. She dressed down a war hero in front of the committee, audience and national TV.

we shouldnt define for others what they wish to be called. she is a senator and asking to be called senator doesnt seem so far fetched to me....IMHO

Well if it really was that damn important she could have asked him in private before the hearings or during a recess and not dress the guy dow in front of the whole nation.

I think that BEFORE the hearing she may not have seen a reason to address it and assumed she would be addressed by SENATOR like the MALE senators had been addressed,,,

after the hearing, who knows where those people go or how fast they leave,,,

Generally before the hearings the Senator's meet with the people questioned individually in the weeks piror to the hearings.

but if one was not EXPECTING such an issue to arise, why would they address it?

What Barbara Boxer did was incredibly vain and inappropriate. The magnitude of this error in judgment and "classlessness" was the reason this video was made and why it is so funny.

To say she did nothing wrong is to fail to understand the absurdity of her remarks.

Even the democrats acknowledge that she is an idiot. She hasn't earned the respect of even her own peers.

Why do you think she is never at the press releases anymore with the rest of the Democrats and keeps herself well hidden.

I wonder how people would feel of OBAMA called the general sir,, and the general corrected him ,,,?

Obama is "higher ranking" than the general therefore he would address the general as general and not sir.
In the military you address your senior officers as sir and those who are lower rank than yours you address by rank.

So Obama would address him as general.

Well being that I am sure that is a violation of the UCMJ, it wouldn't happen.

But if that situation DID in fact happen the appropriate party should be brought up on the correct charges, since that would be a crime.
