Tiffany Hartley, the wife of David Hartley who was allegedly shot and killed by Mexican pirates on a border lake with Texas, is telling President Obama that it's time to take on drug cartels.

"He should wake up and look what's going on in our backyards," she told the Denver Post.

Hartley says her husband's death should be a focal point as to why the U.S. should take on these drug cartels.

"David is not the only American who has been killed, but this situation may be a turning point," she told the paper.

Hartley returned to Colorado on Saturday to be with her family from McAllen, Texas, where the couple had been living.

"The hardest part of it all was leaving without him," she told Colorado Fox affiliate KDVR.com.

She says she wants to continue raising awareness about the ongoing border violence crisis.

"I am ready for the challenge. I don't want his death to have been in vain," she told the Denver Post.

Hartley told authorities the couple were sightseeing when her husband was shot Sept. 30 by gunmen who ambushed them on the Mexico side of Falcon Lake, where pirates have robbed several Americans this year.

Authorities have not found David Hartley's body.

Obama, Reid and Pelosi don't care about this at all. I came up with a pretty simple solution to this problem along with illegal immigration, anchor baby, drug amd human smuggling etc.

QUESTION: If it happpened on the MEXICAN side, how does it pertain to the American president or American policies?

and

are AMERICANS the only ones getting killed on the mexico side or just the only ones americans need to come together about?

I would imagine many more mexicans are killed on the MEXICAN side, which would lead me to consider this a MEXICAN issue,,,,

I agree with msharmony. How is it constructive to blame our President for what happens outside the boundaries of the United States? If this Colorado couple was unaware of the prior attacks in Mexico of US citizens, I'm sorry for them; but it's their responsibility to do so. Looks like just another "blame Obama for everything" day.

Ah but some of you folks keep forgetting this has spilled over to our side along with all of the violence.

She was chased over the boarder too or did some of you forget that too?

We seriously need to cross the boarder with troops to get it into Mexico's head we will not let our people be victimized by them.

No matter how you want to paint it this problem needs to be addressed with military force.

Sorry, they have fully automatic weapons and grenades, we are not allowed those things. That almost constitutes a paramilitary situation.

Mexico is rich enough and has enough troops to do what needs doing.

They just don't want to.

Completely untrue Will. Calderons whole focus has been fighting the cartels thats why there has been such an escalation of violence Since he took office. But its money, he is severely outgunned with few resources. While Canada and America play the its not my problem game! Both our Gov's need to wake the hell up!!

Mexico: Calderon uses drug violence as pretext for militarizing society
By Kevin Kearney
1 June 2007

Much like George Bush in his fraudulent “war on terror,” Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his media supporters are deeply engaged in a fear campaign to bully Mexican public opinion into accepting a move toward authoritarian rule and increased US intervention.

On October 26, 2008, the Washington Times reported of an FBI warning that Los Zetas' cell in Texas were to engage law enforcement with a full military style tactical response should law enforcement attempt to intervene in their operations; their cell leader was identified as Jaime González Durán (The Hummer, I guess he was good a giving Hummers LOL), who was later arrested on November 7, 2008, in the border city Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

In this operation, three safehouses in Reynosa were raided by elements of the Mexican Federal Police, American Officials and the Mexican Army, yielding the largest weapon seizure in the history of Mexico; it included 540 rifles including 288 assault rifles and several .50-caliber rifles, 287 hand grenades, 2 M72 LAW anti-tank weapons, 500,000 rounds of ammunition, 67 ballistic vests and 14 sticks of dynamite. Also they rescued over forty kidnapped individuals in these three safehouses.

The Zetas are known to have hundreds of safehouses in the USA and Mexico anbd I am guessing that they are ALL at least as armed as this one is.

Plus this is not counting the other various cartels and their armories.
