Ohhhhhhhhhhhh helll where is the party I did not get that memo????? Goooooooooooooooooooooooood Morning everyone!!!!! It's a really big deal called "Lights in the Heights" Kinda like a block party but covers over twenty blocks. It has a parade. Lots of the homes have little bands playing in their front yards. There is a lot of drinking and partying. http://www.woodland-heights.org/lightsintheheights.htm Lights in the Heights is the Woodland Heights' way of saying Happy Holidays to anyone and everyone, and is one of the best street festivals in Houston where locals and visitors line up to view the parade and to admire our neighbor’s holiday handiwork. Lights in the Heights is in it’s 24th year and is always the second Saturday in December. This year’s route will include Bayland, Highland and Omar. Plenty of music, entertainment and food abound. Expect some major wattage along with some choirs, handbells, aspiring young dancers and impromptu concerts on folk's front porches. Streets are blocked off so it’s totally pedestrian friendly. We recommend bringing a wagon to tote the kids or a cooler full of holiday cheer. We still need volunteers to lead up several of the subcommittees and of course we will need volunteers for before, day of and after the event. If you are interested in participating please send an email to LITH chair - Florience Clark at LITH@woodland-heights.org. |
