I learned fear, pain, that I was worthless, I learned how to hate, how
to hide bruises, how to be a slave, how to be an alcoholic and drug addict, I learned how to hate myself because I was beneath him..and then I woke up...did it again with another one and again with another one..then I woke up again..and stayed single for 13 years....and now I have learned that not all men are abusing pieces of garbage, that not all men hate and detest women with such a passion it consumes them, that yes there are some men out there who love wholly and completely, that are not afraid to show affection. |

Wow Poet, I too learned fear, pain, how to hide bruises, but I didn't
turn to drugs and alcohol, he was an alcoholic. I learned how to survive looking down the barrel of a loaded rifle twice and having knives pulled on me. I too learned that I was worthless and lost my self esteem. I learned how to be a survivor and to raise our daughter by myself since she was 5 y/o. I learned I could work 2 jobs and even 3 to keep a roof over our head, without any child support. I am learning to regain my self esteem and that I am not worthless as he tried to beat into me. I have lived alone for many years by choice also, still working on me issues. Well spoken Poet and great work on the road back. |

them! |

I've learned that patience, compassion and communication are must.... to
keep relationships HAPPY and alive and btw we are great friends with my ex ... he is an awesome guy ... *Grins* |

I've learned that I'm a great person to live with in that I don't pay
attention to silly details like leaving the toilet seat down after using it, and stuff like that. If the guy is what one is looking for at more meaningful levels, those are truly insignificant details. |

True love only lasts six weeks into the relationship. After that you're
on your own |

i have learned that from all my relationships, that we
jumped into things to fast and the thrill died..i used to think i didnt want to be alone so i would go from relationship to relationship but i toughed it out after a really devastating break up.... the day we were to get married he decided to go back to his ex... but i found out that i actually like bein on my own and love my independence, so i learned that my next relationship i dont have to settle and i will start out as friends and not jump into anything because i like my indepence |

kntrygal - it seems like we should go back to the good old days and take
our time. It always seems to me like there is something wrong with obtaining something too quickly. Especially in relationships, when people discover the real person after they've decided to live together and then it's a real mess, especially if a new home was bought and kids from previous unions are involved. I have to laugh when I see people coming on this site and complaining that after having sent 20 e-mails within 20 minutes, nobody has yet answered and it's only been 12 hours. LOL |
