Oddly I seen and downloaded Penthouse's Caligula. Penthouse wanted to capture the perversion and decadence of Ancient Rome and tried to keep historical integrity. The "Den of Whores" scene with Emperor Tiberius was so over the top but it all fit perfectly becasue Gaius Caligula was a seriously warped man. Caesar Tiberius was no gift to man either. I was impressed by the visuals and also the pure spectacle on top of the historical accuracy with the picture. There were some subtle changes to history I think becasue of the practicality of filming such an expensive movie even in its day. One was that Calligula has spent Rome's entire treasury building two lake boats. In the movie it was only one boat and it was landlocked like a display.

There was more than enough sex in this movie to make it a porn even though it received an X rating but the committee giving the rating had a hard time considering this porn. I do feel a lot of porn movies are like a "Ham and eggs" presentation. But once in a while someone raises the bar!

Cafe Flesh is an OLD Sci Fi porn and that one also had high production values and a real story line. Debbie Does Dallas is considered a classic yet it was of such a low production value.

Now when you get to movies like Linda Lovelace Does Doggie Style you are now crossing into some rather... bestial (seriously Perverted) territory and then art degenerates to... Vulgarity of the lowest form. That also is an old movie (late 1960s I believe).

At least I can say SOME porn is artistic at least!
