I'm just flicking through a few topics here and it seems that all the posters are men. Have I just not clicked enough to qualify as a representative sample? Or do the male atheists on this site really outnumber the female athiests a bunch to one? Or is it that the female atheists on this site just don't feel like posting? Or is it something else?

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe in god as much as the next atheist, but this is a dating site.

The hardest hardcore atheist I know is my wife. I am primarily agnostic myself Since the reason I discount religions is that it is not possible to know the things they claim are true. So how could you know with certainty there is no god, gods, etc of any kind either?

There are atheist women on this site for sure, however, one thing to keep in mind is there is a very fine line between atheist and "agnostic".

Retaining the slightest hope or belief that some sort of spiritual explanation to life may be possible even if in a seemingly quite abstract way like Taoism or whatever, can be enough for a person to consider themselves to be "spiritual" rather than "atheist".

A lot of people (myself included) view the term "atheist" to almost be a secular religion that is actually convinced that there is no spiritual essence to reality for sure.

Having said all of the above, I personally believe (and obviously may be wrong) but I believe that women tend to be more "romantically minded" than men, and therefore tend to hold out a 'hope' or 'belief' that spirituality is more likely than not, even if they don't have a reason beyond mere 'intuition' to believe so.

In other words, women tend to be more intuitively driven than men. And thus less inclined to give up hope that there may be something more to life than meets the 'logical' eye.

After all atheism is a 'bleak' picture. You're born, live a very short life, and just about the time that you start to realize how really cool life can be, you die.

If atheism is the truth of existence then life is basically nothing more than a sadistic tease. It's like nature saying, "Hey! Look at what's possible! Ok, goodbye!"

It may as well have never happened. It's like being shown the trailer to a movie and then the lights go out and that's that.

By the way, there are atheistic dating sites on the web that specialize in connecting atheists. Try Goggle.

My sister's the same way. Just mention the idea that there might potentially be something more to life than meets the eye and she looks at you like you just said the stupidest thing on Earth.

Of course she's been hurt pretty bad in this life so there's no reason for her to believe that life is anything more than an asinine situation to begin with.

Women are a highly prized commodity on any dating site. I'm fairly certain, the most rare would be the atheist ones. Therefore, I doubt they have to try too hard to find a date.
Men are a commodity dating sites have in abundance. Well, straight ones anyway. I'm not sure about gay men. I've gotten the impression, though, that finding someone to boff isn't all that hard for gay men.

I would suggest finding an atheist club in your area. The few I've seen had a plethera of different people. Some were actually female too.

And you might get lucky on here, too. I did.

You can do a search in which you specify "female" and "atheist/agnostic" - you will find many female atheists on here.

Every person who answered this thread is male. Let's see if any female atheists post.

There's not a lot I can do with TBear1970's wife (and what the hell are you doing on a dating site, married person!) or Abracadabra's sister (although...).

I didn't want to start a whole thing about atheism and agnosticism, but if you want my opinion, I follow the Richard Dawkins logic - it seems odd to be agnostic about gods and not agnostic about other things that are obviously ******** but essentially undisprovable like unicorns or fairies.

Darwin rocks my world!

Darwin was a theist. He believed in god. Incredibly, powerfully strongly.

I, on the other hand, believe in the evolutionary theory, in no god, and my favourites are the red sox.

That is especially true for pretty women.

Luckily, one atheistic woman among us, as witnessed on this thread, boasts a pretty smile, the other, a pair of beautiful sox.

Based on the above observation, we, atheists, are blessed to have the cream of the crop of all the women on this site.

It makes me shake my head and wonder why more people are not atheists, what with the lure of the very favourable ratio of good looking women (two on this thread alone, so far, and counting) vs. those women who are not so good looking (but still beautiful).

I don't happen to know too many here, but I'm in the "Good Ol' South" where logic and Science aren't exactly prized.

Don't say that, please. You can go out to the town square in any SOUS city, tell the denizens of a world with no god but a science on every street corner, and you got yourself covered for enough heating tar in the winter, and enough duck down to put in your douvees.
