Tony Curtis, a classically handsome movie star who earned an Oscar nomination as an escaped convict in Stanley Kramer’s 1958 movie “The Defiant Ones,” but whose public preferred him in comic roles in films like “Some Like It Hot” (1959) and “The Great Race” (1965), died Wednesday of a cardiac arrest in his Las Vegas area home. He was 85.

He was a good actor. Wasn't Jamie Curtis his daughter?

Yes, she was the daughter of Tony and Janet Leigh.

Do you remember that movie he played in where his arm was cut off by the king? The king said for him put out the arm of his that offended him. I am sorry it was his hand that was cut off. It was like one of those gladiator movies.

That may be it. I liked the one where he dressed up like a woman, too. My memory isn't what it used to be.

Some Like It Hot, that's excellent. Him and Jack Lemmon were good together. I also like them in The Great Race.

He said in an interview
that Cary Grant was his inspiration...
whom he modeled himself after
in distinctive mannerisms.

Lobsterman From Mars

In his autobiography, Tony Curtis says that he worked on the movie because they paid him $100,000, and he needed to make child support payments. He also mentions that during the production, he never saw the scenes of the movie that his character was reacting to.
