Ever wonder what the differences and similarities are?

I have. I found this cool independent chart and turns out that I predominately agree with whats listed as Democratic(with exception of the abortion and same sex marriage issues)

does anyone else know of some basic similarities/differences between the two platforms?

They both suck. Two wings on the same bird, but the flight path stays the same.

A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person. The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican’s pocket and got out twenty dollars. He kept $15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person five. Now you understand the difference between Republicans & Democrats.

Democrats buy most of the books that have been banned somewhere. Republicans form censorship committees and read them as a group.

Democrats give their worn out clothes to those less fortunate. Republicans wear theirs.

Democrats name their children after currently popular sports figures, politicians, and entertainers. Republican children are named after their parents or grandparents, according to where the money is.

Republicans tend to keep their shades drawn, although there is seldom any reason why they should. Democrats ought to, but don't.

Republican boys date Democratic girls. They plan to marry Republican girls, but feel that they're entitled to a little fun first.

Democrats make plans and then do something else. Republicans follow the plans their grandfathers made.

Republicans sleep in twin beds--some even in separate rooms. That is why there are more Democrats.

The deal is that they both want to control you but in different (polar opposite) ways.

Democrats will champion ideas such as gay marriage while Republicans will restrict that to man-woman relationships. A 'freedom' in the Democrat's eyes but a restriction in the Republican's eyes.

On the other hand Democrats will restrict you on what you can earn either by not allowing you to compete (say you're a teenager who wants a job but can't find one - maybe if you could offer a little less than everyone else (below minimum wage) you could get your foot in the door) or taxing you on a progressive scale if you earn too much. Republicans tend to think more along the lines of letting you work it out with your employer as it's a private agreement.

The list goes on and neither side really wins because they'll both happily steal from you and restrict you in different ways.

- Always vote freedom. Whether it's for you or someone else. You're not winning by restricting someone (we're not talking anarchy here).
- Never vote for taxes that separate us. We're all far better off being on the same side of taxes as it's better that we each have a stake in the government and what they are spending. Keeping us on the same side means that the argument goes from 'tax this and tax that' to 'What the hell are they spending our money on?'
- You're not going to find the perfect candidate so you need to find the one that best fits your ideals

no, I kind of thought tax payments came from all taxpayers regardless of political affiliation, so the analogy isnt quite meshing for me

truly, I think democrats and republicans are both in such large numbers that there is probably more differene within the groups than between them (kind of like race or religion)

I was just curious if anyone had any OFFICIAL platform issues that were different/similar
