And that she had done it for profit, searching her husband's wallet for money as he lay dying. She had an IQ of 72. They wont give someone the death penalty if the IQ is 70 or less. I feel no simpathy and saying she is retarded in the OP is misleading. |

The average IQ score is, by definition, 100. People scoring below 70 to 75 on the IQ test are considered to have mental retardation.' http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=20174 basically, with that IQ, she was about as responsible and culpable as a 12 year old throwing a fit and asking adults to kill other adults,,,,,no WAY she deserved a harsher penalty than the able bodied adults who committed the crime IMHO |

I agree with your comment about the ones who actually did it only getting life, but disagree on whether IQ should even have a bearing. Even if it is a 12 year old "throwing a fit". Death is death. Put them down.

The death penalty here is no different from stoning/beheading/firing squad/etc... elsewhere.
It makes us humans animalistic, barbaric and uncouth. |

Obviously her mental health was good enough to stand trial and found guilty. She knew what she was doing. Having a low IQ doesn't mean she didn't know right from wrong. And comparing her to a 12 year old is wrong she had more life experiance than a 12 year old. |

Put them down. Death is death but circumstances do indeed change the legal definitions and consequences. Self defense that leads to death is treated differently than premeditated acts of violence which lead to death and those are different from accidents ,,,etc,, the day we treat children equally in all areas of law, I might agree, but I dont think children ARE equal to adults and so far neither does the law. children are not RESPONSIBLE if they decide to have sex with an adult, because society expects the ADULT to know better if a child entices and ADULT to kill, the same should hold true |

The difference my dear is the method and trust me and I dont know about you, but I would prefer firing squad hanging electric chair lethal injection which considered youth in asia quick methods over being beaten and stoned to death...........so we should keep all criminals even the most heinous crimes imaginable, alive in the penal system and feed and clothe them forever...........absurd............ |

It all ends the same.
Murder is never right not even when the government does it. |

She is an adult. Not a 12 year old. Just because someones IQ is the same as a 12 year olds as you compared hers to doesn't mean that she has the mentality of a 12 year old. I'm sure she was deemed mentally stable by a psychiatrist other wise she would have never gone to trial and been found guilty. |

I will never believe in the death penalty and the only time I can conceive of how others can stomach it is when someone has actually taken a life THEMSELF, enticing someone to do it shouldn't count, unless its done under extreme duress |

I have NO sympathy for a disgusting human being that has her husband and step son killed so she can collect their life insurance policy..
Disgusting.. doesn't quite fit what I really think, but I'll leave it at that.. |

The woman wasn't a child, she was an adult.
The state set IQ limits and she was above the limit. The laws of the state were followed. There are few crimes considered more heinous than murder for hire. She caused the death of her own family which is worse than killing someone you don't know. Justice was done. The only injustice that apparently was done is that all parties didn't get the death penalty. Now the taxpayer will have to support more criminals who have no place in our society. Making out this woman to be anything other than a vile excuse for a human being is a vast distortion of the facts. |

Murder is not justice to an intelligent being.
Even state sanctioned murder is still murder. It shows how ignorant human kind still is. |
