Back in the day kids went to summer camp for fun, life lessons and to give their parents a few weeks rest. Activities included sailing, canoeing and marshmallow roasting around the the campfire. But like many things, summer camp is a little different in this part of the world.

On the Gaza strip nearly a 100,000 young kids went to 'Hamas Summer Camp' where activities included AK-47 handling, paramilitary training, protest marching and Martyr education. A new report from the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center talked about the camps and their perennial existence on the impoverished land between Egypt and Israel. Hearing about kids in paramilitary training is rather hard to picture...but when one sees the pictures of young boys carrying out assault drills its hard to be optimistic about the future of peace in the region.

Since Hamas took over the Gaza strip a few years ago they have continued to consolidate their power. This year militants burned down a number of UN sponsored summer camps that taught things slightly more age appropriate.

This comes as the divide between the West Bank and Gaza grows ever bigger. The West Bank is controlled by Fatah which is currently negotiating with Israel for a Palestinian state that would include both the West Bank and Gaza. Meanwhile, Hamas, has refused to even talk about a peace agreement and points out that it is difficult for Fatah to negotiate about land that it doesn't control. The summer camps bring up an important point: if these are the 'future leaders' of Hamas and Gaza is there any hope for them to be willing to talk about a peace treaty?

I guess to see outside of our little world can be difficult but with that in consideration in other countries people have to fight literally to survive. Whether we approve of this or not changes nothing for them.
And we cannot even understand the fights of other people so we a-ss- ume to tell them what is right.

Making us the fools, right?

Others did not lay claim to their home nor were they kicked out
nor were they placed in camps.

Hamas is a terrorist organization recognized as such throughout
the world. It is sickening to see people apologize for their
murderous inhumane behavior by making up excuses to justify their
atrocities and despicable false narrative.

They also fire missles and rockets into Israel at NON military targets. What's Israel supposed to do? Sit there and take it? I don't think so.

Hamas is a terrorist orginization, and Israel should launch attacks on these camps once the kids are gone, that way they arn't training Mini terrorists and martyrs.

Hamas means zeal. It is an acronym for Harakat al-Muqawima al-Islamiyya, Islamic Resistance Movement/ It was created as the armed wing of the religious revivalist Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimin) in Gaza, in 1987 or 1988. The Hamas Charter is virulently anti-Semitic and uncompromising in its goal of riding Palestine of the Jews.

from http://www.mideastweb.org/hamashistory.htm

'The State of Israel came into being on the evening of Friday, 14 May 1948. On the night of 14-15 May, the regular forces of Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon invaded Palestine. The Egyptian Foreign Minister informed the Security Council that "Egyptian armed forces have started to enter Palestine to establish law and order" (his cable to the Security Council, S/743, 15 May 1948). The Governments of the Arab League States issued a statement on 15 May 1948, as their forces were advancing into Palestine: '

politicians always justify doing what they condemn others for,,,UN decided to 'divide' their 'home' ,, now how do you think they could do that without displacing ANYONE to do so?

One group of people's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

One major major reason we shouldn't be in the middle east at all.

The history of the place is full of wrongs by each group.

We cannot justify ANY of them in reality.

There are atrocities across the board.

What we have done is basically pick one of the bad guys to back in all situations.

Hell we sometimes switch sides on them just for the hell of it.

It is a mess.

I highlight your statement above because it is absolutely false.
The actions of terrorists are not the actions of freedom fighters.

The actions of terrorists are considered war crimes by any and all
true freedom fighters - those who do not bomb buses, cafes and
fire rockets indiscriminately into cities timed to kill as many
innocent civilians as possible.

Your analysis of the mideast conflict is wrong and biased.
The atrocities of the terrorists far outweigh the wrongs of the
Israelis and this is the reason why we are their allies.

The difference can be summed up this way.

In the mideast conflict,

1. Israel does everything in their power to prevent civilian
casualties.

2. Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-Aqsa martyrs, Islamic Jihad and other
Palestinian terrorists do everything in their power to produce
a maximum number of civilian casualties.

It is a stark and indisputable difference and defines the
difference between terrorist and freedom fighter.
