It is really nice if marriage is a lifetime commitment. It really helps the kids.

it depends on what the environment is like when the kid finds out the parents are going through divorce and how the parents behave and if they treat the kid like a pawn i guess?

My mom and dad are still together after more than 60 years. There are both in their 80s. Mom is really slowing down and dad is doing everything he can. He spoon feeds her lunch each day.

They've had their ups and downs, but I believe they always loved one another.

back in the days people didn't get into marraige lightly. now it seems that it's too easy to marry and divorce so it doesn't mean as much going into the marraige. with all the ads for quickie divorces it seems like a good way to make a living. people don't seem to bat an eye when couples who aren't married live together. i guess when new things are tolerated the old ways lose there meaning.

My parents were married 11 times between them.
I tried, unsuccessfully, to avoid it.
It is like prison.
Are you locked in, or is everyone else locked out?

It is an ideal to be admired though.

In a perfect world, all marriages would succeed. But this world is far from perfect...

I was one of the lucky ones. If my dad were still alive I am 99% sure my parents would still be married. Unfortunately they only had 15yrs together. But they set a good example for me and my brother.

Nowadays tho, people don't look before they leap. They act on certain emotions that don't last and when things get the least bit hard they want out.
