Topic: Would any woman date a man would had Epilepsy? | |
---|---|
Like me? A woman told me I look %100 healthy. I am. But I have Epilepsy. I am disabled and I want to be an author. That's all. I am looking for my Soulmate. She's out there. But if I found a woman I thought she was the one...and I said I have Epilepsy. She run away. I am 31 and feel like a old fart.
p.s. I didn't type this for fun or for people to fell sorry for me. |

Good thing you didn't type this for people to feel sorry for you, without that at the bottom I would have surely thought that was the only reason.
Jokes aside, you want to become a writer...and wonder why no one will date you? Could be the epilepsy, I suppose, but probably more to do with the fact that being a writer is kind of like digging your own grave and filling it halfway full (the other half is saved for publicists). It is extremely hard to make any sort of money writing, and even harder to make that small amount of money in the first place. Of course, then again, I'm following my dream of becoming a writer regardless of it making me broke. Do you have a website or blog? Chicks dig a guy with his own website. |

Fear might be right afterall he is a writer who is trying to date on here, and I am not. But IF Epilepsy is the real reason for your rejections - take a deep breath. Maybe the women u meet r afraid they would not know what to do if u seize. Ever try dating a nurse? just being practical |

Hi Bart, I know for a fact that when a woman loves you, she truly loves you she will love you the way you are. I am disabled with a nasty back problem. It limits what I can do. However, thanks to a relatively new implant procedure I am able to live a pretty much normal life. When I tell women about my back problem most take an interest. A few move on. I have been married, divorced, engaged, blah blah blah and found that true love is blind to imperfections. And it works both ways! You are not alone unless you focus on your disability. If you think about it all of us are disabled to some degree. I am blessed with the health I have and realize it when I see someone worse off than me. And that person often has a partner of the opposite sex with them. Keep smiling! :0) |

Ok Sorry you IMHO are not disabled. If you have a the ability to be socially normal, to take care of yourself, work (writing while not always profitable is work), and if you are other wise healthy then hey no problem.
You have a condition that may impair certain activities (maybe driveing or operateing dangerous machinery) but a controlled epeliptic is no big deal. Millions of PEOPLE with epilepsy live totally normal lives including dating, marriage, divorce, and having kids so they must be doing it. lol Yea some people are going to be really ignorant about it and use it as an excuse to ditch you but you don't need that kind of looser in your life or to make their excuse for them. Sooner or later most folks have some kind of health issue, and yea it bites that yours has to come along early in life but you said yourself the worst is behind you. Yea it gets old always having to advocate for your rights or undeerstanding of average people but being positive and upbeat about the facts that are you; including epilepsy, will win out in the long run. I usually advocate for people relating about a difference via a picture up front. Since you have and "invisabile" difference I would suggest having a picture of you supporting an activity or adding something in your profile like the ribbons that support so many causes/conditions. Then the elephant is out in the open and any-one who is too weak knee'd to give you a chance will not bother you. All that said if you recognize what you are asking of a friend, lover, spouse to be supportive of you will have a lot better luck. A chronic health issue takes being a leader in meeting your own needs. If you need ongoing and expensive medication and health care you may want to think about a primary career choice that makes that less of a burden for a partner. Also being knowledgeable about current issues related to your condition and have easily understandable information available to share for those who do accept you but also have to deal with their family and friends. Just saying screw the people who can't accept it rarely works well. Having peer support can really help you understand your side of the equation but it is a rather unique situation for the "secondary patient". You might want to at least offer that resource in future relationships. It often helps relationships. It is nice having friends who just "get it" to hang out with. Especially if many of your friends are "disabled" and your partner feels like the outsider. Just for the record all 30 somethings have a crisis of confidence in their "mateability' it just goes with the territory. I will bet you will be doing the wedding dance sooner than you know it. Good Luck. |

Some people are just plain vain. But if you meet someone who truley likes or loves you, nothing else will matter because they will be willing to offer emotional support and just be with you. I am sure there are people out there who will do that, it's just a matter of finding that someone who isn't so self involved. Good Luck :) |

Epilepsy does not define who you are, but a condition you have. If the women you meet have a different view of that then you need to pass on them....
