Not entirely certain Deb, I think it was a spar used for telling time & used in conjuction with a sextant, to guess where the ship was. Prolly before morse code & GPS

This offers the pigs instant dental work & survivors have a major migraine problem. It's all quite simple really, provided the tree huggers don't get to hear of it.

Not a lot of laughs for the pigs Tim, but they weren't invited to the booze-up after either. They were there of course, sort of "guests of honour". Itrust the day has treated you all kindly

Now for another question: what's a yard arm? Yard arms are part of the rigging on a square rigged sailing ship, masts, spars, yards, yard arms. So when the sun was over the yard arms it was either getting toward noon or toward sunset. |
