Seems I'm here to early........sad Tiz ok, I shall return. In the meantime, it's over the yard arm somewhere, sodrinks

Hi Ray! waving How's it going in shaky city? What's the yard arm? what

An old sailing expression Deb, back when all ships were sailing ships, the sailors weren't allowed to break out the rum, till the sun was over the yard arm. This was around midday apparently. I maybe old, but I'm not old enough to remember the details first hand!

Thanks for telling me. I don't think you're old enough to remember those details either. Now for another question: what's a yard arm?

Hello Jayne, seems Vivian has gone all shy on us, so the answer is ,(a) not for the squeamish, &(b), potatos for 2 nights, & on the third night, the potatos are fitted up with detonators. This offers the pigs instant dental work & survivors have a major migraine problem. It's all quite simple really, provided the tree huggers don't get to hear of it.laugh
  sounds like fun to melaugh

Not a lot of laughs for the pigs Tim, but they weren't invited to the booze-up after either. They were there of course, sort of "guests of honour". Itrust the day has treated you all kindlyfrustrated (must be Friday night!)

Yard arms are part of the rigging on a square rigged sailing ship, masts, spars, yards, yard arms. So when the sun was over the yard arms it was either getting toward noon or toward sunset.
