So just out of curiosity, why is it that when I mention to someone, man or woman, that I have a potentially fatal latex allergy, the first thing they ask is..."Does that mean you can't use condoms?"...shocked shocked Out of all the things the stuff is in, do they really have to go there every time?

Maybe because about the only other thing (that I can think of) that's commonly used and made out of latex is rubber gloves and how often does the use of those come into play? Unless maybe if you eat latex paint chips? But, that's a whole different issue.

laugh laugh Not literally EVERYTHING. But I know a pretty decent list of things to avoid. If I ever come into contach with it, I will know pretty quick. I stop breathing and break out into hives with most of it.

I can find a list and post it here if you want.laugh

Soufie- go to www.spinabifidaassociation.org and they have a list of commonly used, every day items that contain latex and a substitute that can be used. Some of the things may surprise you.

Im curious, at what point of the "getting-to-know-each-other" conversation does the allergic to latex part come up??

Of course they will say that, that is the most important thing for safe sex. How often do we actually wear latex gloves. I mean unless we work in the medical field or soup kitchen.

True, but they are not asking it in that context. They just want to make a joke out of it. People seem to forget that not all condoms are made of latex.
