The flag is a symbol of our country and those who do not respect the flag do respect the country. Our flag symbolizes this country much the same way the Bald Eagle does, maybe we should cover burning the Bald Eagle under the first amendment too...just sayin'!

I've been at a memorial that those Westboro idiots protested, I came very close to getting into a fight that night.

There was a local 19year old college student, Brianna Dennison who was abducted off her frieds couch in the middle of the night, brutally raped, beated and murdered and her body thrown out like trash in a field. I worked with several of her family members and waas involved in searching and manning the office until she was found at a later date. The whole community turned out for her and were close to 1000 people at the memorial.

These Westboro idiots showed up in full force and had signs saying she deserved what she got, God was punishing her, you know their typical idiotic actions. Me and a couple guys I worked with went over and confronted all twenty of them and they are the most vile people you will ever meet.

I will tell you it is one fight I walked away from that I really wish I didn't.

I disagree, the flag is not as symbolic for everyone, it is cloth with a historic pattern

that doesnt mean it has to be disrespected, but if it is, it shouldnt be criminal unless on government property of some sort


I Respect and love PEOPLE, I have never truly been engulfed into 'love' of land or cloth or symbols or icons,, but that doesnt mean I am disrespecting my country in any way

Desecrating a funeral is another matter althogether... I might be inclined to exercise my right to arms to defend someones right to be allowed their grief in peace. (even someone I don't like)

I used to carry a large chain saw in the trunk of my car and now and then I would get some idiot who was giving me a hard time.So I would just open the trunk and start the chain saw and watch him run like his pants were on fire.

If Westboro was protesting a funeral of one of my family members there would either be a mass or people running for their lives or body parts laying everywhere.

Many a funeral has been held where that flag was given as a sign of respect.
Respect for the sacrifice made so others can live free in a land where they do nothing for that right. Do nothing except suck the cream off the top. Never in their whole life giving anything back.

All we ask is to show respect for what we have sacrificed a part of our lives for.
