I just looked it up. 18 miles west of ChristChurch early Saturday morning so just a short time ago. Ray lives in the Christchurch area. It was a big one---a 7.4. Say prayers he and his family and friends are all OK

There is a row of shops completely demolished right in front of me," Christchurch resident Colleen Simpson said, according to stuff.co.nz" | |

Good morning friends, from the land of a thousand shakes. yes, the quake was centred 33 kilometres from Christchurch & at a depth of 33 kilometers also. Currently we are having after- shocks of fairly large size, but hey, it's just another day at the office. I'm about 15 k's north of Ch-CH. and its tricky tying when the keyboard won't stay still.
