Okay, let's narrow down our favorites by category....I wanna hear all the best sci-fi and fantasy films, please. Ok, you wanted to bring out all the nerds on this one! It's the online equivalent of dressing up in a Princess Leia slave outfit and walking thru a SciFi convention. Crap, your reminding me of last year's Dragoncon in Atlanta on Labor day weekend. I live in Atlanta, so it is convenient. Kind of sucks, but this year I have to be out of town that weekend due to work. A buddy from work that builds robots for the robot battles indroduced my to Dragoncon.

Okay, I've got more than a long list for movies. Now give me some book suggestions. Did you guys like the Jim Butcher books? Is that considered sci fi? I read the first one and loved it. So many books....so little time.

A four day event, with about 35-45k people. Well over 2/3 are in costume. It is Sci Fi based, but branches off to many venues of interst. Large 3K people venues for large pannels for BSG, SG1, Farscape, and Star Trek. 1.5K for the smaller pannels. The best were the hundreds of rooms that would usually have 15-50 fans of a particular topic with a fan based pannel small group discussions. The days start for 10am and end at 2am. After 10pm is when the party starts with concerts, raves, open bar and other adult related activities. Ok, TMI!! haha

Well, I've been up since 3am. Worked 9hrs, wrapping a long hard week. Will be going to work again tomrow (Overtime!). Had fun with the Sci Fi talk. I am half asleep. To sleepy for Karaoke tonight. I apricated this topic discussion.

Ok, TMI!! haha We don't get big cons like that here in Oregon- Seattle gets them so that not too bad, plus I've been to the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors down in LA a few years ago. Have you read Bimbos Of The Death Sun by Sharyn McCrumb? It's a very humorous murder mystery about a fantasy author who is killed during a Fantasy Convention. The book was inspired by McCrumb's experience of being a total outsider when she was invited to speak at a convention.

So many books....so little time. I haven't read them, but I've heard nothing but good things about Jim Butcher's work( I think the Dresden Files are considered fantasy)
