I saw Skyline. Intersting concepts, great spectial effects, and weak story. It was not the worst movie I have ever seen, but it was not great.

I've been out of the loop for a bit. Anyone bummed that Caprica got can'd? Also, whats up with all the 2011 Sci Fi push in movies? There is Tron, Battlefield LA, Cowboys and Aliens, Source Code, and some cartoon movie.

Jesus, I am not at all surprised that Caprica got canned. It took forever for some momentum to build up in the story.

Caprica from my vantage point was not that bad and I will explain my case. Look at SG1, Babylon 5, Farscape, Star Trek TNG, and for that matter X-files. All those great long running Science Fiction shows had no momentum till season 2 or 3 of the show! After the re-boot of BSG everyone is up for fast instant gratification that they can enjoy with other shows currently on that already went through there rough first season. Perhaps that is why the crappy show SGU is still on. You can't tell me Firelfly was lacking in momentum, which was near a perfect show and canned in less than a season. It’s all about the money and not about content or pleasing the fans anymore.

I was expecting to be disappointed with Caprica if I viewed them with my BSG goggles. It had a great amount of content to process, a great amount of drama, and no space action. With an open mind watching it, I realized the significance of the V world (what the cylons can still enter in BSG) and a further look at the division between Monotheism and Polytheism which was the same primary conflict in BSG. Caprica was best viewed as part of the big picture.

I like that crappy SGU.

I feel like shooting myself in the head when watching SGU, because it is so depressing to watch. Ok, I just miss Richard Dean Anderson at the helm! He lighted things up to a more enjoyable show. Once he backed out, SG1 well, was no were near as good.

I did watch Avatar for the first time. Good movie with story and effects. It was a bit of a knock off from the Nox in SG1. Also, Avatar had concepts from James Cameron's earlier films like Terminator (the areal platforms) and Aliens (the walking machines and space craft). I did like that the story was broken into four sections and you could see characters develop throughout the movie.

I wasn't expecting another SG-1 so I didn't mind that it had new characters, it was a spin-off like Deep Space 9 was to Star Trek.

I've been watching Space Academy again on DVD-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnAaMH5SzMA

Little corny(especially the robot), but the effects are excellent considering this was a kid's show(mostly because the guys who did do the effects were also doing Star Wars at the time)

Also have Ark II, and Jason Of Star Command. I loved watching these live-action Saturday Morning shows from Filmation as a kid.

The intro reminded me of Space 1999. I have that as part of my collection. A very far out show!

I know my Trek, SGU is more like Star Trek Voyager. On a ship stuck imposibly far from home. Stargate Atlantis was like DS9 in that it was an alien post with humans on it.

I watched "Watchmen" for the first time. It was suprisingly a differnent kind of movie, in a good way. Darker and more thought provoking than most of the other DC comics movies. I did not recongnize any of the actors and actresses and that is a plus in my books!

I wasn't talking plot wise, I was just naming the first scifi TV series spinoff that came to my mind.
