Reports tell varying stories, but it seems that Omar Thornton, 34, was fired from his job yesterday following allegations that he stole beer produced at the facility, and shortly thereafter went on a shooting rampage. Reports by CBS News found that Thornton faced years of racial harassment at the facility and despite not being a violent person, “just snapped,” according to a family member. Despite Thornton's complaints to the union, a Teamster official said Tuesday, "It's got nothing to do with race ... This is a disgruntled employee who shot a bunch of people." But his family described a different picture: hanging nooses in the bathroom and racial epithets on the wall. I hate hearing stories of emotionally unstable people with guns. There should really be mandatory counseling or something prior to purchasing. No reason would have been justified in killing people like that who had done nothing to him. |

I want to see proof of all the "Racially Motivated" crap the deceased family is alluding to. Where are his complaints in writing?
He very well could have been a hard core alcoholic and when he got cut off he flipped out. Sounds EXACTLY like the M.O. of an alcoholic. I also read he was disciplined three times for drinking on the job as well as other infractions. I love how so many people love to say, "they fired me becasue I am black!" I also love ho so may people defend screw up family members. "Oh he is just misunderstood," or "he was always such a nice and respectful person." My money is on he was an Alcoholic and got fired because of his lack of taking responsibility for himself, he got pissed and jacked a bunch of people out of revenge, and then checked himself out becasue it was the easy way out. |
