Topic: After a Year, Obama Urges Iran to Release 3 Hikers | |
---|---|
President Obama marked the first anniversary of Iran's jailing of three young Americans by reiterating that they are guilty of nothing, have never worked for the U.S. government and never had any quarrel with the Iranian government.
In an appeal for Tehran to free Sarah Shour, 31, Shane Bauer, 28, and Josh Fattal, 28, Obama reminded Iran that it is a signatory to conventions on human rights that if honored would free the Americans. "Their unjust detention has nothing to do with the issues that continue to divide the United States and the international community from the Iranian government," Obama's statement said. "This is a humanitarian imperative." They were arrested last July 31 as they hiked along the Iraq-Iran border. Iran contends they are spies for the United States. Obama's statement said he particularly wanted to "acknowledge the suffering and advocacy of Sarah, Shane and Josh s families." He said he spoke this week with the captives' mothers, whom the Iranians allowed to visit their children briefly in May. "The Iranian government s gesture of allowing these mothers to visit their children was welcome, but I cannot imagine how painful it was for these three courageous women to return home without their children," Obama said in his statement. "I told these three mothers that Sarah, Shane and Josh are in my thoughts and prayers, and that the U.S. government would continue to do all that it could to secure their release." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/31/year-obama-urges-iran-release-hikers/ All he can do my a$$. There's a lot more here t hat can be done here that isn't. First of all they were snatched on the Iraqui side of the border, which technically could be considered an act of war. Second of all, all's we have to do is send our ENTIRE fleet of military ships off the coast of Iran(which is a lot considering the amount of carrier groups we have in the fleet down there) and give them 24 hours to give us the three American's and the missing FBI Agent that they have in custody or we will come in and get them(and handle the nuclear problem at the same time). I guarantee that the four of them would be on a little dingy raft on their way out to one of our ships in probably less then an hours. If that option doesn't work we have special military teams like DEVGRU or Delta that could go in make a clean rescue and get out. Either way Obama is once again lying and isn't doing everything in his power. |

And would the tea party be okay with the necessary tax hikes to accomplish this?? I'm all for sticking a boot up Ahmadinejad's ars, but when the bill comes, I don't want to hear the same people advocating policies requiring huge expenditures complaining... |

Why were they "hiking" in that area anyhow? Jeez. Some people think they are invincible.
ME::::"Hey, friends I was thinking about going for a hike. Anyone wanna go with me?" FRIENDS:::::"Sure where would you like to go hiking?" ME::::::::"Well I was thinking about flying to South Korea and hiking really close to the North Korean boarder, how does that sound?" FRIENDS:::::"Oh jolly gee whiz that sounds like so much fun, let's go!" Or add Iran, or any other place where you swim at your own risk. |

They travel to a country where it is deadly for American's, then make a mockery video dancing and then decide to hike close to the border of Iran. They arn't that bright but they are US citizens trapped in a histil country and we need to get them out, not to mention the retired F.B.I. Agent who was working a case in the islands off Iran that they have captive. I also think that people who intentionally go into a country that the US is on the brink of war with should be charged by the Federal Governement. They are provoking an international incident. |

We have several carrier groups in that region right now. The entire 5th fleet is down there. There are five carrier groups in the fleet along with many other shiips, aircraft, subs, DEVGRU, Seal Teams, Red Cell Teams, CIA Special Activities Division operatives, UAV's. Not to mention a major troop and equipment buildup along the Iran-Iraq border. I guarantee within hours we will have all 4 hostages back into custody. NATO should have handled Iran after they illegally raided and took hostage the British sailors in international waters(which can be considered an act of war), or when they recently sent troops across the Iran_Iraq border and tried to seize control of an oil well and reserve. |

Agent went missing. you are missing my point, how do you KNOW Thats all he has done?because the media hasnt told you any different? after Katrina, I remember people saying this celebrity or that celebrity werent doing anything to help,,,, I asked them the same question,,,,just because the media doesnt REPORT every thing people do or say, doesnt mean its not being done or said, and then there is the chance that they dont always know everything someone says or does either,,, |
