Your all missing the point to the whole thing. Lets see it's the Boy Scouts 100th year. How often do those come around? Oh yea every 100 years! This is a once in a lifetime event for everyone attending (ok maybe a few might make it to live to be 117). I say shame on Obama and the view for not rescheduling the show. I guess it will last ALL year then,, gives us 150 more potential dates for them to have a meeting with this President,,, No the jamboree if I remember correctly it's only a week long and it's a national event. The only one like it's kind. |

The Boy Scouts is an American Institution badly needing support right now becasue they are one of the few organizations to actually do something positive for kids. Fund raising? When this country needs action, not campaigning for votes and money? He also does not work 24/7. Don't kid yourself. Obama should be leading, not begging for financial hand outs. WTF! You can't keep a good bad guy down! crazy, I didnt know taxes were race based, could have sworn they were attached to INCOME levels ,, of which OBAMA HIMSELF would be required to pay more taxes than the average joe,,, First and foremost Obama rose to power on racially biased dogma. Then he suddenly became a revolutionary. Like all "good" politicians they reinvent themselves to get votes. Now with that said... There is an assumption that the Boy Scouts is just for "Whites Only." In my troop we had black scouts. At the Jamborees there were units attending that were predominately black. There was nothing "white" about it. Obama could have attended JUST to help out national moral rather than fund raising for his pets! His people need him more than his organization! Who is the DNC serving again??? Now for taxation being based on Income. AH HELL YES! Lets just tax the **** out of the rich and give to the poor just like Robin Hood only Obama is the guy in Green tights! Every tax they throw at us add to the taxation we are forced to endure now! America has the MOST FUQUED up and convoluted tax system ever. if you know how to play your loop holes you can cut way down on what you have to pay predisposing you are really rich. Also many of the new taxes effect us globally. CA's sales tax is 9.75% but lets round up here, 10% of the value of everything we buy. What has that done to consumer spending especially on big dollar items? Oh but CA being a 'green state' also imposes an electronics tax of 3% too. They also like to hit us with a disposal fee too. Fees fees fees fees fees! If you think more taxes solves everything you have been sucking on your big toe for far too long! QUIT IT! It is funny how bad California is off now. Oh the poo poo us about to hit the fan real good here in a short! By November things should really be nice and toasty! That is when the some of the poo starts flying! President Obama will make history as the first sitting president on a daytime talk show when he visits with the ladies of "The View." But he'll be missing out on another historic occasion -- the Boy Scouts' Jamboree marking the group's 100th anniversary, right in the president's backyard. The Jamboree kicked off this week at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, where organizers had invited the president to speak to the 45,000 scouts in attendance. All three of Obama's predecessors have made it to one Jamboree while in office. But the president will instead be traveling Wednesday to New York for a taping of the ABC show, as well as Democratic fundraisers and a stop in New Jersey. The talk show appearance comes as campaign season moves into full swing, but also amid efforts to cap the Gulf oil spill for good, contain the damage from an unprecedented leak of Afghanistan war documents and battle Arizona over its immigration law -- set to go into effect Thursday. Obama also has an out-of-town event planned for Friday in Detroit. But while the Jamboree lasts until next Tuesday, the president is sending his regards via a videotaped message. Boy Scouts of America spokesman Deron Smith said the organization knew Obama's invitation would hinge on his schedule and found out two months ago that he would not be able to attend. "It just depends on his schedule," he said, adding that "there's always a spot" available for the president during the Jamboree. Obama also serves as honorary president of the Boy Scouts of America. The White House said Tuesday that the fundraisers, not the TV appearance, prevented the president from attending. "We were always going to be out of town that day," Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer told FoxNews.com in an e-mail. "It was never canceled." The Boy Scouts released a statement acknowledging that Obama has hosted Boy Scouts groups in the Oval Office twice since taking office. "We thank the president for his effort to recognize scouting and look forward to working with his administration as we work toward accomplishing our mission of preparing young people to become exceptional adults," the group said. The Jamboree is held once every four years. This year's festivities mark the organization's 100-year anniversary -- scouts are scheduled to visit Washington, D.C., and other regional attractions in connection with the celebration. It was a typo, Bush spoke in 2005. When you make your platform a community service one annd getting involved with community service orgs makes this kinda hipocritical. Besides ummm how exactly is going on the View helping the economy? How is attending fundraisers for Democratic candidates helping the economy? This is right in Washington D.C. he could spend a couple hours there then re-schedule his appearance on the View. so who spoke in 2001? is this a presidential duty,, speaking to every childrens organization? I kind of thought it was an extra , a PRIVILEGE for such groups,, meaning something to be appreciated when it happens and NOT something that should be expected It was planned for 2005. |

There are thousands of scouts from all over the world going to to be there, all in Washington D.C. for this major event, but Obama Bin Laden has to campaign and raise money for his buddies, since thats more important. |

As for the rarity of a centennial - it may only occur for any particular group every 100 years but hundrends of them occur every year. Some seem to think the BSA celebration is somehow more worthy of a Presidential presence than any other group - That's a personal view, Some poeple may think their own celebration is at least as worthy - but no one seems to care that their celebration was not patronized by the President. There are hundreds if not thousands of organizations turned down daily by the president because of his schedule.
No biggie. I was in the girl scouts and never met a president. What is up with that? |
