They say the best way to heal pain is to forget. That the ache of someone saying goodbye will vanish as the years go by and you slowly forget the source of your hurting. They say time heals all wounds. I do not subscribe to that belief. Forgive me, but I do not believe that. As far as I am concerned, pain and joy are intertwined, and one becomes diminished without the other.

yes but I think some people become flat emotionally after a certain amount of pain because they become afraid to risk the joy in fear of more pain.

No amount of pain endured can diminish the gift of love given. The way I see it, the more it hurts when it's gone, the more you loved when it was here. For that, you shouldn't be sorry, because not everyone gets to have that kind of gift in their life. If you've been hurt, it means you've loved. That, in and of itself, is a blessing that can't ever be destroyed.
