I am terrified of heights!  I thought if I started rock climbing I could get over it. I climbed a couple times indoors and felt quite accomplished in conquering my fear. I signed up for a rock climbing class and yesterday was my first time climbing outdoors, I got not even half way up and thought I was going to die. I hate this, how can I get over my fear? I'm scared to death of heights...I force myself to go higher when hiking. Soooo, when ya coming with me???? Lets face our fears together Tiff. |

Hmmm ... I've always hiked mountains a lot ...
Hiking never translated to curing rock climbing fears for me ... Doesn't seem as if the same height issues, different g'ranimals ... Kinda as flying in a jet doesn't prepare me for parachuting ... Hope it will somehow quell the fear for you, Tiffanny ... That's be kewl! Edit: Yanno what to do if ya need more ...

Well there are things that I don't like but I do anyway because I have to on a day to day basis (elevators and bridges). I was very uncomfortable crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (several miles long), but atleast I didn't need an escort. What REALLY makes me uncomfortable enough to avoid though is FLYING. I have passed on several trips to Hawaii and a trip next week to Denver. I will only fly if I absolutely have to. I haven't "absolutely" had to in over twenty years. An eight or nine hour drive is a piece of cake compared to an hour and a half flight for me.

Does anyone have a phobia of driving or am I the only crazy person out there? It really is a hardship not to drive, but if I try to get behind the wheel my heart starts pounding, I start crying and shaking and just can't do it. I have never been in a car wreck so I have no idea where this comes from!!!

It's not the falling I'm afraid of. It's the sudden stop.  That reminds me of something my first boss in aviation told me when I confessed to him that I was terrified of flying. He said...it's not the long fall...it's the sudden stop at the end of it that will kill ya!!!  "If at first you don't succeed, then maybe skydiving isn't for you!" I have not come across anything that phobically scares me. |

It is horrible to be dependent on someone else to go to the store and even worse when they bit** at you to get off your butt and drive.....if it were that easy I would! |

I am extremely self conscience about being burdensome(yes is yes and no is no and then I move on,,,), or emitting any type of unpleasant odors(hygiene is very important to me,, cant forget deodarant or toothpaste and moutwash EVERY day)
