I have a poster of Janis Joplin (I'm not really that old). Anyone
that knows of her knows that she was not known for her beauty. In this
poster she is wearing some of the most hidious clothes from the
60's/70's. She has no make-up on and wearing some wierd hat. She is just
sitting in a chair smiling at the camera.

There is just something about her that draws you in. I don't know
what it is. Everyone comments on how hot she is. She is just stunning. I
don't exactly know how to pinpoint what true beauty is, But I'll know it
when I see it.

I don't know if this is something to be commented on. Thought I'd
throw it out there.

In the spirit of the 40th anniversary of "The Monterey Pop Festival" and
how Janis and Jimi stole the show I'll have to agree.

I LOVE how after the festival, she would agree to sign a contract if
Clive Davis slept with her. That is a "beautiful" twist on the "typical"
"casting couch".

With the knowledge how (by all accounts) Clive Davis agreed and "THAT
VOICE".....that lady had balls.

There is something SO attractive about an (ehem) "ascertive" woman.

Mikey, in the world's eyes she did not have the perfect face/body.

What you are looking at is her spirit, her charisma. To have both which
are so beautiful you have to be very blessed. I see her pain, her
laughter, her tears.......which to me makes her very human. I see her
spirit. flowerforyou

I wouldn't call it lust or love...I would think it was in awe, or in
high admiration of a wonderful woman.
